Guest guest
Dear all, Akabar Chakravarthy was a contemporary of Bhaktha Mirabai. Bhakthameera Bhajans became very popular during this time and King Akbar wanted to have a darshan of her and listen to her bhajans impregnated with intense devotion. So one day he disguised himself as a devotee and attended her bhajans. He thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated her divine devotional songs and as a token of his appreciation, gave her a beautiful pearl necklace. Bhaktha Meera did not care about the value of the gift and left it in the bhajan room. Bhaktha Meera's brother-in-law Vikramam Rana saw this necklace and recognized that it belonged to King Akbar. He was looking for an opportunity to find fault with Meerabai and he mercilessly blamed her for her illicit relationship with the King. He wanted to punish her by taking her life and came forward with a sword in his hand. Meerabai was not afraid. She bowed her head and asked him to bring the sword down to cut off her neck. Angry Vikram Rana tried to bring down his raised arm with the sword to cut off Meerabai's head. To his surprise, he found that he could not bring down his raised hand however hard he tried. It was frozen in that position. After trying to move his hand for a long time he realized his mistake, and begged Meerabai to save him from that situation. Bhaktha Meerabai prayed Bhagavaan to relieve him and the next moment the sword was dropped from his hand and his empty hands slowly came down. Vikram Rana became Bhaktha Meerabai's disciple and rest of his life he served her and other devotees. Just like Bhaktha Amabarisha who was not afraid to see the demoness Krithya, Meerabai was not afraid to see his brother-in-law approaching her with a sword in his hand. May be Meerabai saw the same Sudarshana chakram coming and freezing Vikram Rana's right hand! Even if we do not have enough punyam to see Sudarshana Chakram or Bhagavaan's roopam, He is constantly moving around devotees protecting them from thousands and thousands of dangers. According to some source she beacame a widow and lived in Mewra and was persecuted by her inlaws. Another is that she went back to Rana after she rezched Brindavan. Rana was said to have fgiven her poisn etc and othetr is that it was her bri other inlaw. I am following the popular version in my posts on Meera .
