Guest guest
Dear all, Jayadevar was writing his " Hari charana smruthi saaram " Geetha Govindam. When he came to the tenth sarga, he was explaining how Radharani was pretending anger and how Krishnas was consoling her with sweet words. Jayadevar thought of writing Krishna apologizing to Radharani and saying: " Let your feet become an ornament or crown for my head " . He started writing and half way through he felt bad to have thought about this inappropriate idea of putting Radharani's feet on Bhagavaan's head! With out finishing the rest of the line, he went to take bath in the nearby river. His wife Padmavathi was busy with her housework and after some time he saw her husband coming from outside. So she hurried and got everything ready for his brunch or early lunch and served him with hot and freshly prepared delicious lunch. He ate and and straight went to the room where he usually sat and wrote. Padmavathi came back to finish her work and started eating her lunch. After a few minutes Padmavathi was looking through the window and she saw her husband again coming after bath. She was perplexed to see him coming again from outside. Jayadevar was very surprised to see his wife eating before serving him. Usually that never happened. So he asked Padmavathi whether she was too exhausted and hungry and apologized for his delay. Padmavathi was now really confused. Whom did she serve a few minutes before? Who was the one who ate what she served and went to her husband's room? Both of them were very confused. Then they went to his room and checked the book in which Jayadevar was writing. To their surprise they saw that a few more words were added to the unfinished line and those were the exact words Jaydevar was planning to write. Then they knew that the person who came in first the form of Jayadevar was Bhagavaan himself. Jayadevar immediately fell prostrate at his wife's feet. She was so lucky to see Bhagavaan and serve him delicious lunch with love and devotion. Jayadevar said: " Padmavathi, I am blessed to be the husband of a punyavathi who could see Bhagavaan and serve Him. " It is said that Jayadevar first wrote: " Smara garala khandanam " .. (the power of the deadly poison of love) and left unfinished and Bhagavaan came in the form of Jayadevar and finished the line by adding: " mama shirasi mandanam dehi paada pallavam udaaram " ( is nullified by decorating my head with your flower-like feet). Bhagavaan's these words matched exactly what Jayadevar had in his mind! When intense Bhakthi fills our mind, Bhagavaan's mind and our mind becomes one! Jayadevar became a jeevan muktha. It is said that our mind when multiplied by infinity becomes Bhagavaan's mind and our jeevathma when multiplied by infinity becomes Paramaathma! with anantha koti namaskaaram to Poojya Jayadevar and his pious wife Poojya Padmavathi Regards and prayers Savitri
Guest guest
Hari-Om Thank you Savitriji for remembering Saint Jayadeva. Jayadeva and Gita Govinda - Postal Stamps. Jayadeva was a sanscrit scholar and poet who lived in Orissa circa 1200 AD. In his song, he invokes Krishna with refrain, " jay jayadeva hare " . He is best known for his epic poem, Gita Govinda that depicts the devine love between Sree Krishna and His consort Radha. The LYRICAL ,religious eroticism of the Gitagovinda earned sainthood for Jyadeva and wide acceptance for the poem among the followers of the Bhakti movement. His wife Padmavati was a temple dancer and a devout follower of Jagannatha. Jayadeva shared her devotion for Jagannatha and as Jayadeva composed, she danced- thus the GITAGOVINDA ! For the first time in the history of the Indian Postal Service, a set of 11 postal stamps were issued early this year in his honor. The stamps titled : DASAVATAR includes one stamp for each of the 10 avatars starting with Matsya, Koorma ...............and Kalki and one stamp for the legendary poet Jaydeva. jai shree krishna !
