Guest guest
Dear Devotee, It is a fact that , Guruvayoorappan is personally present to watch His favorite art Krishnanattam . Faithful Bhaktas can physically experience the spiritual vibrations and it is due to this reason that this play becomes the most enchanting experience to them . AcharyAs like Sri Vilwamangalam have found Bhagavan watching the play and they put in place regulations to conduct the play only after closure of the temple to suit Bhagavan's convenience . On the first row, there is a specific seat for Bhagavan . It is true that it is Guruvayoorappan Himself who acts on the stage as Sri Krishna through the medium of the Krishna-actor . Once , the skeptic Cochin king had a placed a true elephant on the stage as Kuvalayapeetam to test what the Krishna on stage would do . The baby Krishna on stage killed that elephant and then chased the king who ran away to save his dear life . This is recorded in the temple's historical records . Krishnanattam is the dearest vazhipadu to Guruvayoorappan . Rukmini swayamvaram is for facilitating the early marriage of girls . Numerous girls have been benefited from this Vazhipadu . After marriage, they come with husbands to offer thanksgiving Krishnanattam vazhipadu to Bhagavan . Although, Maya-vadis (Impersonalists opposed to Deity-worship and associated rituals like vazhipadus, etc) oppose the above, Guruvayoorappa-bhaktas are least bothered about such unwanted distractions . Loyal Bhaktas are absolutely happy with their direct interactions with their `Vilippurathappan' , Sri Guruvayoorappan !!! List of Krishanattams and it's objective : Avatharam – for Child birth . Kaliyamardanam – for freedom from Poisons/ illness /egoism, etc Rasakreeda - for welfare of maiden girls ( kumaris) . Kamsavadham – for defeating the enemy. Rukminee swayamvaram – for marriage of girls. Banayudham – to attain specific objectives , for pleasing both Lord Vishnu and Lord Siva , etc . Dwidavadham – for prosperous agriculture , elimination of poverty, etc . Om Namo Narayana!!! Das- In guruvayur , "Upama. Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya Yes, such personal experiences are worthy of mentioning and shared by all, and they do "occur" every where and in every "temple" or "kshethra". Is it not our own body a "divine temple" housing the "divine Soul?" Guest guest
OM NAMO NARAYANAYA Respected Dasji, There is one last Play of Krishnanattam - Swarggarohanan which is for getting Moksham to persons suffering from long ailments. The Mayilpeeli used in the crown of Krishna of Krishnanattam is said to be the real one worn by Guruvayoorappan. The story goes like this. The Great Vilwamangalam Swamy II could see Krishna with his naked eyes . Once the Zamorin Raja of Calicut requested him to show Bhagwan to him . Swamiyar agreed with condition - he has to restrain himself .One day , after Athazha pooja , the Swamiyar showed krishna playing inside the temple where the Ayyappa temple is now situated to the Raja. The impatient Raja tried to embrase the Lord who disappeared instantly . But he could get one Mayil Peeli from the crown of Krishna which is still used in the Krishnanattam plays. Guest guest
Another story goes like this. In olden times, Krishnanattom used to be conducted in the pradakshina vazhi outside the main entrance. Once, the viewers could see two Krishnas on the stage instead of one. It was soon understood that "if you play in front of me, what could I do but not join it". From that day onwards, the venue was shifted to the current place. Strange are His Leelas. Guest guest
Dear Gopalakrishnanji, Thanks for correcting me . As you said , 'Swargarohanam' play is for Mukti . It is inauspicious to conlude with Swargarohanam . It is to be followed by 'Avataram' play . Bhaktas are heartbroken to see Bhagavan's return to Vaikunatam . And they are relieved only after watching His 'Avataram' . Bhagavan too laughs and cries with His Bhaktas and hence this regulation about not to conclude with 'Swargarohanam' . To book a Krishnanattam , Devotee has to pay Rs.1500/ at the Devaswom counter , indicating the chosen day . Any number of Bhaktas can book for same day and hence there is no waiting list for this Vazhipadu . However, on a particular day only a particluar Story will be played . Bhaktas have to book according to this schedule . Om Namo Narayana !!!
