Please let me know whether ratha saptami(for sun)is auspicous day.

For this year its already over but i want to know whether it is good day to start

new things like registration of house ,marriage and other functions.

Dear Devotee of

the Lord,

The question is

the auspiciousness of ratha sapthami for things like registration

of house,

marriage and other functions. As I am also a member of this Group and

a student of

Astrology, I feel I am bound to respond to this question and hence

would like to

express very briefly from my little knowledge, as follows:

Ratha Sapthami

is the 7th day after the new Moon (Amavasya) in the month of Magha

(between mid

January-mid February). The exact date may vary as it is based on

the lunar calendar.

It is also known as Surya Jayanthi, Sun God’s Birth Day, which

is celebrated

in many Hindu Temples. It is auspicious.

Now, coming to

its use for Muhurthas, it really depends. The most important thing is

that while

electing a ‘Muhurtha’ (auspicious time), we must first avoid ‘Karthrdosha’,

 

means we must ‘personalize’

it to suit that individual for that particular function. It

varies from

person to person and function to function, aswell. In this Kali Yuga, it is

seen that most

of us are not used to strictly adhere to those rules , which are some what

rigorous for

us. We take so many exemptions in this case also as usual, forgetting the fact

that exemptions

will never always attenuate the rules.

However, in my

humble and personal opinion, it is always better to avoid Birth Days

of renowned

Deities for our individual celebrations. Let that God be spared on that day,

you can stay

back and don’t go to take part in that celebration, as you please.
