Guest guest
I like Shri Venkat Hari's response to Pandeji's question regarding Brahmans and shudras, and I want to add something. One who realized Brahman is a braahmana but 99.99% of people misunderstand that if one is born in a braahman family, you are a braahman. According to Manu Smriti, ALL are born as shudras (janmane jaayate shudrah), and according to their gunas and actions one becomes a braahman, kshatriya, vaisya or sudra. Gita says the same thing - 'chatur varnyam mayaa srushtam guna karma vibhaagashah' i.e.the fourfold order was created by me according to the divisions of gunas and actions. The following is an excerpt from the book " Maharshi Mahesh Yogi on the Bhagavad Gita, a new traslation and commentary, chapters 1-6. " The three gunas may combine with each other in six possible ways : 1. sattva dominates, rajas is secondary 2. " " tamas " 3.rajas " sattva " 4. " " tamas " 5.tamas " sattva " 6. " " rajas " combinations 2 and 5 are not possible bec of the contrast in the nature of sattva and tamas ( 2. when sattva dominates, which is light, there cannot be tamas - darkness; 5. when tamas dominates, there is no sattva). Thus the three gunas have only 4 possible combinations..... (1,3,4,6.) Because you all are gynanis , you can figure out who is who. It is one's gunas, actions and consciousness that determines what you are. Hema Reddy
