Guest guest
Dear members, I would like to know, why do natural disasters like earthquake, tsunamis, floods etc occur? Since thousands are killed enmasse during such events; and it is highly unlikely to distinguish between those having good karma and those with bad karma. All suffer the same fate. I am sure a loving and benevolent God cannot allow this to happen. Is there any reference or explanation on this, in the Gitaji ? Guest guest
Friends While everyone has his own Karma ,there is group karma as well. The group karma exists at family ,village/town/ city ,nation and the planet level. The planets gets destroyed when the sum total karma on the planet becomes too heavy and the same is applicable at the nation, society ,family and individual level. Correct interpretation of Sloka 14th of 5th Chapter means God neither acts nor prompts action and does not creates coincidences or favourable/unfavourable circumstances.Men act by themselves according to to the compulsions of their inborn nature. They are impelled to act by the inevitability of their inborn traits. Geeta says clearly that the next birth takes place according to the thoughts and emotions one is carrying while dying( 5th and 6th Sloka of 8th Chapter).Persons dying enmasse in natural calamity, must have done ( together or individually )something bad in this or past live to cause such fate. Nothing happens superceeding cause and effect relation ship. Chapter 18th Slokas 51 to 62 mainly deals with qualities of a person who is liked by God. When God says "I reside in the heart of every one (61 of 18th Chapter) , no additional proof is required for God's love. REGARDS A K Jain - Dear sadhakas, Namaste! Laws of nature don't distinguish between good people and people who act evil ways! They are so precise, when certain conditions are met on physical level, hurricane, earthquakes, floods, extreme heat or cold happen regardless! This is how balance is maintained across the globe according to Scientists also. Another point: Natural disasters are only when considered from an individual, family, or country's point of view. We are all including nature(jada, chatan) are ONE Totality, Consciousness, One Being called God or Ishwara! It doesn't make any difference when considered from Totality perspective. God is resolving/dissolving to recreate God(Totality)! This may sound like hard to digest, but when one realizes his/her true Impersonal nature(Atman) and abide in it, one will have all answers one needs, and one knows immortality in the face of such bodily death. In such circumstances, people who rush to help the victims of Tsunamis, earthquakes etc are none other than God! How do you think God helps? only through us, Doctors, Nurses, Volunteers, Compassionate people! Now on the other hand man made evil acts are obviously carried out by people who are ignorant of their true identity. They consider themselves to be individual egos and also doers of their deeds, and therefore are threatened by others whom they perceive to be in conflict of their interests, and security. This is because mass Karmas! Mass karmas are all the conditioning we inherit from people who lived before us leaving their ideas, beliefs, philosophies, etc, good or bad!(Hitler, Gandhi, Mother teresa, Stalin and others) Ever since mankind came to existence, all their thoughts are more or less available to all of us depending on place and time we are born, raised. Thoughts, beliefs, Ideologies behind cruelties or compassionate acts are available to future generations in the form of media, such as books, TV's Radios, Computers! Of All such conditioning "I am separate Individual" is the mother conditioning creating problems thru mass Karmas/conditioning/brainwashing manifesting in acts of violence, wars, etc. Final word: Try to be free of conditioning and inculcate non-doership sincerely, then see if you can comit any crime? Not possible! Let us not talk about why God allows such acts. It is out of this conditioning men act selfishly for him/her or for family, or for country, or such fragmented societies etc. Let us be free of individualities truly! Namaskar! ......Pratap - How does this help you as a sadhak. We are not here to discuss worldly issues. A.H.
