Guest guest
Dear Friends As per my earlier postings , essence of Gita is contained in verses 61 & 62 of 18th Chapter, verses 7 & 8 of 4th Chapter, verse 14 of 5 th Chapter , verse 73 of 18th Chapter and verse 21 of 16th Chapter. Another important message is contained in verses 34 & 35 of 6th Chapter as under:- Arjun says- Mind is fickle, agitating, obstinate, and powerful and trying to discipline the mind is as difficult as tying up the wind of a storm. God Krishna says- No doubt mind is fickle and hard to discipline but it is disciplined by practice and renunciation. The nature of mind is :- 1. Mind is fickle and restless and can not remain on a subject for even seconds. It always moves from one thought to another thought ,moves into past and future and most of the time remains in negative thought. 2. Mind churns and agitates us on a subject for very long. It gets hooked to a thought and it is very difficult to let go of that thought. 3. Mind is obstinate and stubborn. However hard we try , it comes back to the thought we are trying to avoid. It sticks to a thought and it is difficult to move it away from that thought. 4. Mind is strong and controls human being. Whatever we say, the mind is stronger than us since it controls us particularly when we are angry or upset. God Krishna says mind is disciplined by Practice and Renunciation. Practice means doing regularly (without break) whatever we have committed to do. It is a question of our will power. One can start with ten minutes chanting (jap) in the morning and evening or reading two pages of Gita in the morning and evening. The important issue is being regular and honoring our commitment. Honoring our commitments is one of the steps for disciplining mind. Renunciation means to give up desires. By giving up desires ,we close the doors where mind want to enter and stay. We also need to look closely at our desires and constantly monitor and watch desires in our mind. To sum, up mastery over mind is acquired by honoring commitments and watching the desires in our mind. Regards A K Jain Initial practitioners of Bhagwat Gita should first develop their intellect by isolation, contemplation and understanding with an aim to get connected with consciousness of Sri Krishna (Mum Mana Bhav or unify your consciousness with consciousness of Sri Krishna). This is (bhajan or preparation stage) after which 'karma' can begin. In the next step, intellect connected with Sri Krishna gets into automatic mode without efforts and it freely works in its direction without expectation or results of fruit of work, and without anger or revenge to none. After the end of ;karma' , it gets Moxa. regards K G Misra Just begin to spend sometime with yourself in meditation and say a few simple prayers. Understand the meanings of the prayers and there by one builds up a relationship with Isvara the Almighty. In life any relationship has to be created and built up with interest and love. How do your parents love you? How do your kith and kin love you? How do your friends love you? If they did not have shraddha, will they ever be in touch with you or interact with you. The shraddha and love for each other develops only by spending quality time in interaction with each other. Prayer is the means of interaction to build up a relatioship with Isvara to understand, appreciate and earn His grace. Wishing you good luck Love and prayers Lakshmi Muthuswamy Your question - aseem shradhha and love for the Almighty and that too for all the time without any indulgence in material world? " Take a caterpillar..the way it moves is: it moves from one leave to another and till it gets hold of the next leave, it will not let go of the current leaf it is holding onto. So, its ok whatever you do, and if by any chace u cannot concentrate on love for Go...its is alright and pray to God with that sincerity and purity in ur heart to lead you in the way He intends and he directs you and takes you to situations where you have never even imagined about. You can please remember this verse: with that complete sincerity in ur heart : " Sarva dhaman paritygya, mamekam saranam vraja, aham tva sarva papebhyo, mokshaikshami maashucha " . Leave everything other ideas/concepts/understanding/dharma/everything alone and do your duties and SURRENDER to ME alone and I will take care of everything and you will be resolved of your sins. Regards, Bharathi One of the main messages of Gita is where Krishna says to leave the doership " Kartabhaav " , and merely watch the world as a Witness, " Saakshi " . views on forgiveness. it is easy to forgive others but hard to forgive oneself. The main reason for guilt is strong self identification, as the more we dwell in thought that I am the doer, the more guilt, self pity etc. whereas the more time we spend in God and us as only His instrument, then there will be less emphasis on us, less self pity, less guilt etc. It is difficult to give up doership of negative actions like hurting others, jealousy, anger, greed. " SELF IDENTIFICATION " is the Tamsic guna, and one should practice the disidentification with the body and mind for all the time remembering that I am not the doer of these actions.
