Sub: Glossary of Sanskrit words

Ref: Thu, 25 Oct 2007 06:01:03 EDT

The meanings of: Swaroop = Swa = self + roop = form

It is form with breadth, length and depth 3 dimensions. This is applicable for

all the substances in the universe.

Moksha = moha = delusion + ksha = ksheen = destroy.

Complete elimination delusion from the thinking and believing in Knowledge

quality of Soul and is applicable to Soul – Atman- alone.

Attempt is made to present the best that is known and it is likely that it may

be falling short of one’s expectation and information. It is earnest and sincere

request to bring out the defects and insufficiencies thereby help understanding

better.

Yours brotherly,

Sreepalan

Namaskar Seekers,

You may search the glossary of spiritual words compiled by Sanatan Sanstha, a

spiritual organisation. It contains meanings of Sanskrit words in English.

You may search the web for the link, since Gita Group does not allow links to

sites that are not screened. (moderator addition)

Dear bhagavats,

One of the readers had asked for the meaning of Swarup and Moksha

There are several other words which are as simple as the above and most of the

readers ofGital Talk know the meaning

I suggest that readers should buy Swami Sivananda's " Yoga Vedanta Dictiolnary

" published by Divine Life Society. Price Rs 45. You can get in any book stores

that sells books on religion. You can enquire with Giri Trading Co by searching

the web.

This is an excellent book and contains all the important words .

There is another excellent book " The Language of Gods " by Judith Tyberg.

You can try with the distributors of Aurbindo Ashram, Pondicherry or

Theosophical Society of India. This may or may not be available . Atleast try

in old bookshops

In Vaishnavism, the largest branch of Hinduism, Moksha involves forsaking

everything material and establishing one's existence as a purely devoted servant

....

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moksha - 48k - Cached

Gita Moksha is the State-of-Statelessness on the wheel of action where one

stands ... Moksha is the ultimate goal of human existence rewarded in turn by

Supreme ...

Brihad Aranaka Upanisad 3-9-12 “ Atman-Swarupa is rta (truth). 4-3-7 “

Atman-swarupa is the best light among senses in the intellectual body.” 3-9-26

“Atman-swarupa doesn’t have any tenacity, is not polluted and is free, and is

the most excellent. “Neti Neti Atman (no atman)” this term is first used, and it

means totality that atman-swarupa cannot be explained by any means. 4-4-5

“Atman-swarupa is Brahman of the Creator”, so it becomes advaritarvada of

sankara in 7th century A.D. which means atman-swarupa and Brhman are not two but

one. Wisdom of direction means the best paramana (truth), intelligence, and

light. In addition, it is the will of the Creator and the potential ability of

atman-swarupa. Development of directional wisdom is the unity of God and man,

one body of myself and nature, perfection of self, Vimukti (deliverance),

realization of self with no obstacle.

I trust the above details will be useful to understand Moksha and Swarupa.
