REMEMBERING ONE OF THE GREATEST SAINTS WHO WALKED ON THIS PLANET AND

WHO WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND GITA-TALK GROUP

Three years ago early morning (at the Brahma Muhurat - 03:40 a.m.)

after Ekadashi day (as per English calendar on 3rd July 2005), soul

of the one of the greatest creations of the God, soul of Swamiji,

Shree Ramsukhdasji Maharaj merged into Brahma - its origin.

India is known to produce at least one " genuine " saint every

century, but saints like Swamiji are even rarer. Those who knew Him and / or His

works, place him in the class of Vashishtha, Narada, Ved Vyas, Kaak Bhusandi,

Valmiki, Tukaram, Mira Baai, Goswami Tulsidaas. He was 103 years old at that

time.

Swamiji was in fact a " kaarak purusha " - a liberated soul sent to

earth by the God - to tell all human beings as to who they are

(Self, Consciousness), what their main aim and purpose in life is,

how to lead their lives, ways for them to attain Supreme Bliss, and

easy means to God Realization. He addressed practical issues such

as what one is actually doing and what one should be doing. What one

is trying to know and what is really knowable. What one is

attempting to get (attain) and what is really attainable! He also

played a significant role in bringing eternal wisdom and idealism,

to modern day living (Gitaji in present context). One of His most

important contributions, was His commentaries on the Gitaji in it's

simplest, straight forward explanation, bringing it to the masses,

the common, the poor and the least educated class in India.

Millions of lives have been touched by these works.

The world most certainly has today a grand, a comprehensive and

truthful treatise on Gita in " Srimad Bhagavad Gita - Saadhak

Sanjeevani " written by Swamiji, refined over 80 years of His

dedicated effort.

A mere look at Swamiji would instantly impart the feeling that if as

per the scriptures, as per Sanatan Dharma, as per Gita, there can be

a Saint or a Siddha Karma Yogi (one who attained perfection through

Selfless Service) or a real Siddha Jnana yogi (a Self-Realized Soul)

or a Siddha Bhakta (a perfect devotee of God), or a liberated human

being, Swamiji would be the one. He was perfect in reflecting as a

human being each and every quality which can ever be perceived with

reference to a liberated soul!

Swamiji lived the very principles of Gita - he made the sternest

tests of Gita - look simple, achievable and livable. At least in

last 4-5 centuries no one has been able to explain in such easy,

comprehensive and doubtless form - the elements called " God " ,

" Soul " , " Jeeva " (embodied soul), Jagat (the world), etc. etc. (and

for that matter, hundreds of such elements). When Swamiji used to

speak - the listeners invariably would become still .... Speechless.

Swamiji threw such powerful rays of knowledge and experience - that

even the best of minds and intellects would first get stunned,

mesmerised, amazed, shocked and astonished ! ... And then they

would become calm, serene and peaceful. He brought everything within

the realm of human capacity and insisted that you can attain,

realize God right now, at this very moment, if you truly want. He

has clearly explained the process of " God Realisation " . He was

indeed a " God Realised Soul " himself, and to the people who were

touched by Him, He was indeed God walking on earth in His most

beautiful form.

There was nothing for which Swamiji had no answer. He has left

behind so much nectar that even if the entire humanity drinks, than

too, it will never become empty.

The world has been truly touched by the jewel crown of God Himself

Just as sun gives light to everyone equally, similarly the nectar

extracted by Swamiji from the vast ocean of Shashtras and scriptures

is benefitting entire humanity.

Unlike the sunlight which is external to us, Swamiji's books are

enlightening our souls.

To live our lives according to his discources is the best service we

can offer to Swamiji.

To commit our lives in continuing his work of Gita Prachaar is the

true Shraddhanjali, that we can offer to such a great soul.

Swamiji is residing in our heart, guiding us everyday. We are all

feeling the presence of Swamiji....

Dear friends

Sri Ram Sukhdas ji's writings are self referral or effortlessly

intuitive ( without any bibiliography ). This becomes possible only

when He knows the universal knower and thus can interpret every

scriptures correctly, and convincingly. This ability of self

referral or independent observer, in Sanskri, is called RISHI. The

expression of words and examples relating flawlessly to contemporary

world is called CHHAND. The ISHT or DEVTA is the one, to whom the

CHHAND is addressed to. RamSukhdas is devout of Sri Ram and He sees

Ram every where, and explains his intuition to Ram and only Ram. Ram

is therefore, the Devta. TulsiDas was a RISHI but called himself a

Kavi (narrator), and his flawless documentary Ram Charti Maanas, a

Chhand, and Shiva his Devta, and Ram as Isht by ways of Shiva -

Parwati discourse.

In other words, Sri RamSukhDas is a road to Sri Ram. He was a

messenger and is and will always be a messenger. But we must be

careful that the messenger is not glorified but only the message

(which is nitya and sanatan - eternal and never dies) should be

learnt by heart. Let us therefore focus on understanding and living

those messages.

Great souls in the past have sternly warned their fellow being to

not create institutions or any external infrastructure in their

names, as there is never a time when guide is absent. But not

heeding to it, over a period of time, people are fighting in their

names but have never tried to understand the universal path that

these great souls travelled.

The form of worship is becoming Him (man mana bhav, mad bhakto,

madajyazi maam namaskuru) and not being away from Him.

Bhagwat Gita

Man mana bhav = be as I am

Mad bhakto = not remain away from Me

Madyaazi = work as I do

Maam namaskuru = follow Me.

Yogarudah Mahataman like Swami Ramsukhdasji are always with the

disciples whether in this world or in spirit even after the casting

Jai Shri Krishna,

" Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table

reading his Bhagavat Geeta.

His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in

every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, 'Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavat

Geeta just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do

understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does

reading the Bhagavat Geeta do?'

The Grandfather replied, 'Take this coal basket down to the river

and bring me back a basket of water.'

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he

got back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to move a little

faster next time,' and sent him back to the river with the basket to

try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was

empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his

grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and

he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket

of water. You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out the

door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was

impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he

ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back

to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he

reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath,

he said, 'See Grandpa, it's useless!'. 'So you think it is useless?'

The old man said, 'Look at the basket.'

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that

the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old

coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

'Son, that's what happens when you read the Bhagavat Geeta. You

might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it,

you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Krishna in

our lives.' "

Thank you for keeping me on this path. I appreciate it. There is

so much taking place in my life. Your message cuts to the chase.

I was a victim of Raag, dvesh, harsh, and shauk this week. .... I

suffered under the search. From my mind I received the

acknowledgement that I can create my own success. Literally. I am

a writer.

My journey is a long one. I was once a semester away from being an

Orthodox Priest. Since leaving I lost everyone I thought was dear

to me. Once again Raag, dvesh, harsh, and shauk attacked me. In

the midst of the lost love, God directed me to true love.

............. Without my control, without planning... God had a

plan. God always made all the plans. Even when I thought I was in

charge it was always God.

There is a truth in the Gita that I was lost to my entire life. It

goes beyond all I was ever lead to believe as spiritual truth.

reading his Bhagavat Geeta.

His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in

every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, 'Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavat

Geeta just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do

understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does

reading the Bhagavat Geeta do?'

The Grandfather replied, 'Take this coal basket down to the river

and bring me back a basket of water.'

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he

got back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to move a little

faster next time,' and sent him back to the river with the basket to

try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was

empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his

grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and

he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket

of water. You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out the

door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was

impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he

ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back

to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he

reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath,

he said, 'See Grandpa, it's useless!'. 'So you think it is useless?'

The old man said, 'Look at the basket.'

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that

the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old

coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

'Son, that's what happens when you read the Bhagavat Geeta. You

Great souls in the past have sternly warned their fellow being to

not create institutions or any external infrastructure in their

names, as there is never a time when guide is absent. But not

heeding to it, over a period of time, people are fighting in their

names but have never tried to understand the universal path that

these great souls travelled.

The form of worship is becoming Him (man mana bhav, mad bhakto,

madajyazi maam namaskuru) and not being away from Him.

Bhagwat Gita

Man mana bhav = be as I am

Mad bhakto = not remain away from Me

Madyaazi = work as I do

Maam namaskuru = follow Me.

What one is trying to know and what is really knowable. What one is

attempting to get (attain) and what is really attainable! He

also played a significant role in bringing eternal wisdom and

idealism, to modern day living (Gitaji in present context). One of

His most important contributions, was His commentaries on the Gitaji

in it's simplest, straight forward explanation, bringing it to the

masses, the common, the poor and the least educated class in India.

Millions of lives have been touched by these works.

The world most certainly has today a grand, a comprehensive and

truthful treatise on Gita in " Srimad Bhagavad Gita - Saadhak

Sanjeevani " written by Swamiji, refined over 80 years of His

dedicated effort.

A mere look at Swamiji would instantly impart the feeling that

if as per the scriptures, as per Sanatan Dharma, as per Gita, there

can be a Saint or a Siddha Karma Yogi (one who attained perfection

Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj never allowed himself to be

photographed through out his life. He never touched money.. He never

allowed any person to touch his feet or to take the dust from the

ground on which there were his footprints. He never touched a woman

after childhood.. Once a person kept flowers on his charan paaduka (

footwear) , he stopped wearing footwear. There was a ban during his

discourses for clapping, for putting any donation boxes outside / near the

grounds on which his discourses were held etc. No decorative chairs, no

garlanding, no pomp and show, only a microphone and 50,000+ devotees, in

Calcutta even 100,000 people would hear the realized soul (in my eyes) at a time

in a pin drop silence environment - 3 times in a day.. He would receive food as

" bhiksha " (alms) from households where purity was instilled. He never looked at

the world for getting anything out of it. He gave, gave and gave to the world.

He willed that there should be no memorial etc. built in his remembrance. He

willed that his mortal remains be deposed of with a couple of hours after he

left the body and more ....

He never made any Guru and he never made any chella.

sanjivani of swami ram sukhdas ji maharaj. I visited gita bhawan on the occasion

of Ganga dussehra on 13.6.2008 and Vrindavan on 18.06.08 on the occasion of guru

purnima.

Swami ji told me Guru is bhagwan Krishna and shloka of Gita is His advice, so I

visited Banke Bihari ji temple for puja on Guru Purnima.

The depth of love towards GOD can be instant as in your case. You

have not lost your life span. Past is better experience. Present is

going to lead you to divinity.

Raja Parikshit attained realization in 7 days. Ajamilan realized in

death bed just before last breath. When depth of Love towards GOD is

full nothing else in mind realization comes. This can happen to

anyone in just seconds.

Chirst said to one of HIS disciple, " Blessed are those who believe

in ME in future but still not seen ME " . Gems can be from any

Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj never allowed himself to be

photographed through out his life. He never touched money.. He never

allowed any person to touch his feet or to take the dust from the

ground on which there were his footprints. He never touched a woman

after childhood.. Once a person kept flowers on his charan paaduka (

footwear) , he stopped wearing footwear. There was a ban during his

discourses for clapping, for putting any donation boxes outside /

near the grounds on which his discourses were held etc. No

decorative chairs, no garlanding, no pomp and show, only a

microphone and 50,000+ devotees, in Calcutta even 100,000 people

would hear the realized soul (in my eyes) at a time in a pin drop

silence environment - 3 times in a day.. He would receive food as

" bhiksha " (alms) from households where purity was instilled. He

never looked at the world for getting anything out of it. He gave,

gave and gave to the world.

He willed that there should be no memorial etc. built in his

remembrance. He willed that his mortal remains be deposed of with a

couple of hours after he left the body and more ....

He never made any Guru and he never made any chella.

bhawan on the occasion of Ganga dussehra on 13.6.2008 and Vrindavan

on 18.06.08 on the occasion of guru purnima.

Swami ji told me Guru is bhagwan Krishna and shloka of Gita is His

advice, so I visited Banke Bihari ji temple for puja on Guru Purnima.

The depth of love towards GOD can be instant as in your case. You

have not lost your life span. Past is better experience. Present is

going to lead you to divinity.

Raja Parikshit attained realization in 7 days. Ajamilan realized in

death bed just before last breath. When depth of Love towards GOD is

full nothing else in mind realization comes. This can happen to

anyone in just seconds.

It was four years ago on Yogini Ekaadashi night (yesterday), our dear Swamiji, merged with us forever (July 3rd - Western Calendar). Most people who knew Him, feel no loss of His divine presence. In fact He is with us at all times. Ram Ram Ram

He made His ultimate aim of Only the Lord

From the time He understood the inert, He detached from it once and for all

He made many realize about the importance of protecting the Cows

He neither had an Ashram nor a fixed place to stay

He lived temporarily in Gita Bhawan

As long as he breathed, He sang about the glories of the Lord

The soul (atma) merged with the Supreme Soul (Paramatma) to such a One I respectfully bow...

to the Saint that manifested on earth

The association of a real saint, is loving to all lovers of God,

With that true intensity and love of Lord, He lit the lamp of divinity in us

As the ocean merged into the stillness of Ocean, to such a Gita Lover, we bow time and again

He spread the message of the Gita, until His last breath,

Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj never allowed himself to bephotographed through out his life. He never touched money.. He neverallowed any person to touch his feet or to take the dust from theground on which there were his footprints. He never touched a womanafter childhood.. Once a person kept flowers on his charan paaduka (footwear) , he stopped wearing footwear. There was a ban during hisdiscourses for clapping, for putting any donation boxes outside /near the grounds on which his discourses were held etc. Nodecorative chairs, no garlanding, no pomp and show, only amicrophone and 50,000+ devotees, in Calcutta even 100,000 peoplewould hear the realized soul (in my eyes) at a time in a pin dropsilence environment - 3 times in a day.. He would receive food as"bhiksha" (alms) from households where purity was instilled. Henever looked at the world for getting anything out of it. He gave,gave and gave to the world.He willed that there should be no memorial etc. built in hisremembrance. He willed that his mortal remains be deposed of with acouple of hours after he left the body and more ....

He never made any Guru and he never made any chella.

Thank you very much for the kind rememberance about one the greatest saints in modern times! Million pranams at his feet who single handedly changed the life of many and inspired them to turn Godwards. Why his divine messages are so insipiring to countless because he truly lived by the teaching of Gitaji to the core before he dismeninated the essence of Gitaji to others. A self realized soul who walked the talk (Ref: Gita 3-21). By grace of God, I had darshan of this divine soul.

A true service to him would be to live by his teachings and spread the his divine message to those who are new to Gitaji and Swamiji Maharaj's work.

Hari OmSwamiji changed directions of many souls forever. He was simple but razor sharp. Before you completed your Q , He would understand the core of it.He was very very witty. I remember once He caressed His bald (shaven) head and said : There is no "sukha"(happiness) in this world just as there are no hair on my skull ! Regarding "becoming Sadhu" , He used to say there is no sense becoming Sadhu without leaving attachment from within and then would supplement by adding : "Hamne to Sadhu banke dekha hai" ( I have seen this by actually becoming Sadhu) .He laughed freely making you instantly realise how a liberated soul feels from within. His forehead used to sparkle like the Sun. He was indeed the Jewel Crown of God Himself.

His words used to touch the souls invariably. Ego- He would describe ego : "Jaanate nahin ham kaun hain" (Don't you know who I am? ) - this bhava of an egoist as to "who I am" still makes me laugh and wonder as to the depth of understanding of the Great Saint. He was universally respected. There used to be a pin drop silence in the huge audience, invariably, during His discourses. He would call the "keertans" after His discourses as "prasad" ! He never boasted of Himself and always called Himself to be a sadhak. A circle of devotees used to get formed around Him when He would go back after giving pravachan so that no body touches His feet or takes the dust. No Jaijaikar, no dancing, no raising of hands by females- an unprecedented aura used to get created. Still His powerful words "Sajjano" (gentlemen) echo in our ears. Jai Shree Krishna

Jai HanumanI am speaking to Divine Sadhaks from deep within, not to show something, but to express gratitude to Swamiji Ramsukhdasji Maharaj.Swamiji , through His audio casettes and books, entered our home for the first time in 1981 when my Mom in law bought His couple of books and a dozen casettes. Since then slowly and steadily the very bhavas of all souls in home changed. Today nearly 3 decades after , the home is full of God fearing souls. There is God everywhere, there is peace and bliss everywhere. The children are all now spiritual. The grand children wait for Ganesha Puja days like a farmer waits for rains in the desert. They start preparations weeks before, decorate the home in their own way. They invariably participate in Daily Puja and patiently sit with me during that. They particularly enjoy "keertans"! They never forget to touch their eyes and foreheads if by mistake Sadhak Sanjeevani or Ramayana slips out of their hands or is wrongly touched. The youngest one (5) places the book on her head and puts in the shelf.In fact, last month, my younger son, forgot small idol of Goddess Saraswati in London while migrating from London to Dubai. He became so restless upon discovering the same that he asked one of his colleagues to fly to Dubai with the same. His father laughed and paid the cost of trip happily, of course, after rebuking him of his negligence. I pleasantly witnessed the unrest in him and thanked Swamiji by soul. Dear Beloved Sadhaks, Namaste,

There are times that one has to shed ones shoes, place ones hands together, and know one is in the presents of 'THE DIVINE', reading this thread, in my heart that is what I am doing.

Even for me to write about Revered Swamiji is an honor, breathless respect, for ONE I never knew. Dear Sadhaks having read the Divine Love of those that sat before Him, and thinking of HIS words that I have read, right now, late at night fills me with soft gentle Peace.So tonight this is my meditation.

Sophiaji we may share this great misfortune, but here at this Forum, we are touched by HIS DIVINITY, radiated from the Souls that were in past times, in HIS presence.

I feel like a wondering pilgrim who has stumbled onto sacred ground. So forgive me Dear Brethren, Dear Swamiji, if I am course and clumsy, but my heart is glowing.

Dear Loving Sadhaks, Just like all words fall short in describing the Glories of Bhagavaan, similarly, there are no words that can even remotely come close to one drshti (sight, viewing) of Swamiji. LIFE CHANGES FOREVER !!! BEYOND ONE'S OWN COMPREHENSION AND ONE CAN NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN !!! One is wonder-struck ! Filled with nothing but admiration ! What happened to all those long list of questions and doubts? None of them seem either applicable or matter any more ! The mind is immediately Peaceful and Still ! And one feels light and free like a child !!!

The the following shlokas in the Gita comes from my heart -

"Namo namaste'stu sahasrakrtvah Punascha bhooyopi namo namaste (Gita 11/39) Namah Purastaadatha prsthataste Namostu te sarvata eva sarva (Gita 11/40)

"Salutations to You, salutations a thousand times and again salutations to you" (Gita 11/39)

"My Salutations to you from the front, the rear, and from all sides." (Gita 11/40)

One can do nothing besides bowing again and again in front of our very own sweet, loving, innocent, child-like Swamiji filled with humility and compassion.

Late Sri Ram SukhdasJi was a great saint but remained anonymous..He was the VC of Rajasthan University. He lived to the ripe age of 102 and breathed his last breath in Gita Bhawan, Rishikesh, near Gangaji. He was offered by many all the comforts for his old age but he spurned them.He could not be photographed and hence there is no photo of him.He was the soul of Gita Press and is a household name in the field of spirituality. He spoke with utmost humility with the name of Narayana all the time on his lips.He was not a great speaker to impress people by his knowledge. Million pranams at his feet who single handedly changed the life of many and inspired them to turn Godwards. Why his divine messages are so insipiring to countless because he truly lived by the teaching of Gitaji to the core before he dismeninated the essence of Gitaji to others. A self realized soul who walked the talk (Ref: Gita 3-21). By grace of God, I had darshan of this divine soul. Swamiji changed directions of many souls forever. He was simple but razor sharp. Before you completed your Q , He would understand the core of it.

He was very very witty. I remember once He caressed His bald (shaven) head and said : There is no "sukha"(happiness) in this world just as there are no hair on my skull ! Regarding "becoming Sadhu" , He used to say there is no sense becoming Sadhu without leaving attachment from within and then would supplement by adding : "Hamne to Sadhu banke dekha hai" ( I have seen this by actually becoming Sadhu) .

He laughed freely making you instantly realise how a liberated soul feels from within. His forehead used to sparkle like the Sun.

He was indeed the Jewel Crown of God Himself. His words used to touch the souls invariably. Ego- He would describe ego : "Jaanate nahin ham kaun hain" (Don't you know who I am? ) - this bhava of an egoist as to "who I am" still makes me laugh and wonder as to the depth of understanding of the Great Saint. He was universally respected. There used to be a pin drop silence in the huge audience, invariably, during His discourses. He would call the "keertans" after His discourses as "prasad" ! He never boasted of Himself and always called Himself to be a sadhak. A circle of devotees used to get formed around Him when He would go back after giving pravachan so that no body touches His feet or takes the dust. No Jaijaikar, no dancing, no raising of hands by females- an unprecedented aura used to get created. Still His powerful words "Sajjano" (gentlemen) echo in our ears.

I am speaking to Divine Sadhaks from deep within, not to show something, but to express gratitude to Swamiji Ramsukhdasji Maharaj.

Swamiji , through His audio casettes and books, entered our home for the first time in 1981 when my Mom in law bought His couple of books and a dozen casettes. Since then slowly and steadily the very bhavas of all souls in home changed. Today nearly 3 decades after , the home is full of God fearing souls. There is God everywhere, there is peace and bliss everywhere. The children are all now spiritual. The grand children wait for Ganesha Puja days like a farmer waits for rains in the desert. They start preparations weeks before, decorate the home in their own way. They invariably participate in Daily Puja and patiently sit with me during that. They particularly enjoy "keertans"! They never forget to touch their eyes and foreheads if by mistake Sadhak Sanjeevani or Ramayana slips out of their hands or is wrongly touched. The youngest one (5) places the book on her head and puts in the shelf.

In fact, last month, my younger son, forgot small idol of Goddess Saraswati in London while migrating from London to Dubai. He became so restless upon discovering the same that he asked one of his colleagues to fly to Dubai with the same. His father laughed and paid the cost of trip happily, of course, after rebuking him of his negligence. I pleasantly witnessed the unrest in him and thanked Swamiji by soul.

Words can't express the gratitude to Swamiji. It can only be felt.

Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj never allowed himself to bephotographed through out his life. He never touched money.. He neverallowed any person to touch his feet or to take the dust from theground on which there were his footprints. He never touched a womanafter childhood.. Once a person kept flowers on his charan paaduka (footwear) , he stopped wearing footwear. There was a ban during hisdiscourses for clapping, for putting any donation boxes outside /near the grounds on which his discourses were held etc. Nodecorative chairs, no garlanding, no pomp and show, only amicrophone and 50,000+ devotees, in Calcutta even 100,000 peoplewould hear the realized soul (in my eyes) at a time in a pin dropsilence environment - 3 times in a day.. He would receive food as"bhiksha" (alms) from households where purity was instilled. Henever looked at the world for getting anything out of it. He gave,gave and gave to the world.He willed that there should be no memorial etc. built in hisremembrance. He willed that his mortal remains be deposed of with acouple of hours after he left the body and more ....

No wants, nothing to do, no place to go, no place to arrive, nothing to study, nothing to practice, that is all there is - only these simple points. In just these few words, everything has been said entirely ! It is due to desiring something that we expeirence bondage in this world. On leaving these desires completely, once and for all, one becomes naturally, situated in Paramatma (God), present everywhere, in entirety.In all your activities remain neutral and impartial. Have no attachment (likes) and aversion (dislikes)."Tulasi mamata Ram so, samtaah sab sansaarRaag ne rosh ne dosh dukh, daas bhaye bhav paa." (Dohaavali 94)There are actions and there are objects. Both these are in Nature (Prakriti). While discontinuing relationship with objects and actions, become dependent on only Paramatma (God). Take refuge in only God, That is It. You are already naturally situated in God. In a dream a lady's child was lost. She was deeply distressed and grieving. But when she woke up from her sleep, she saw that her child is sleeping right next to her - The point of this message is that wherever you are, there Paramatma (God) IS completely and entirely. He loved to present complex principles in very very easy language !He had a goal : To present to Sadhaks the EASIEST METHODS OF SELF/GOD REALISATION. Once Swamiji told that Holy Gita was never made "kanthastha" by Him ( He never made efforts to learn by heart Gitaji) . He said He found that to be already "kanthastha" ( He found that He can already recite it by heart...without reading Gitaji book) !! Once some one asked Him: Why is He writing "Swami" ( Master) before His name and "Dass" ( Servant) after His name ? He replied.... "Swami" is caste. "Dass" because "Dass bhava" is very Dear to me ! Regarding "becoming Sadhu" , He used to say there is no sense becoming Sadhu without leaving attachment from within and then would supplement by adding : "Hamne to Sadhu banke dekha hai" ( I have seen this by actually becoming Sadhu) .He laughed freely making you instantly realise how a liberated soul feels from within. His forehead used to sparkle like the Sun. He was indeed the Jewel Crown of God Himself. His words used to touch the souls invariably. Ego- He would describe ego : "Jaanate nahin ham kaun hain" (Don't you know who I am? ) - this bhava of an egoist as to "who I am" still makes me laugh and wonder as to the depth of understanding of the Great Saint. He was universally respected. There used to be a pin drop silence in the huge audience, invariably, during His discourses. He would call the "keertans" after His discourses as "prasad" ! He never boasted of Himself and always called Himself to be a sadhak. A circle of devotees used to get formed around Him when He would go back after giving pravachan so that no body touches His feet or takes the dust. No Jaijaikar, no dancing, no raising of hands by females- an unprecedented aura used to get created. Still His powerful words "Sajjano" (gentlemen) echo in our ears. Dear Sadaks,Sri Vyasji once posted saying that Swamiji, never ever liked pomp and show, HE was very simple and most humble. But he also posted that if some one touches or offered prayers to HIS slippers, HE never wore them again. I could not find answer to that, neither I seeked sadaks view on it, as I knew sadaks all will answer their own view and confuse me. In most cases like that, I wait for God to answer or the concerned saint to answer. To day most divine Ashada Ekadasi day Swamiji answered. Now that I am totally clear, I request sadaks to pass their views first.We all just admire, deeply respect, shed our tears on the thoughts of Poojiyasri Swamiji. This shows that we are very far from nearing Swamiji teachings. If we have climbed the heights of diviness of Swamiji, then we will be contended to the extent our feeling on Swamiji is not so deep. Divine Sadhaks !

The message below from Param Shraddheya Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj is crystal clear . sadhaka/message/2339. Reading this with yesterdays' His last pravachan , We should be totally clear now about the path to be taken by us all. Add to that the need for all of us to "establish EXCLUSIVE mineness with Paramatma" by firmly accepting - I am of God, Only God is mine, nothing else mine !

This categorically establishes that for Realisation there is no need for any external assistance , including even help of body and Gurus what to talk of meditation, dhyaan, dhaarana, actions, efforts etc !! What more humanity can ever get or wish to get ?

This is nectar for all of us ! Let us resolve today - on 3rd July - the Anniversary Day of Maharajji - that we shall firmly "accept" - MERE TO GIRDHAR GOPAL, DOOSARO NA KOI !

This acceptance by us shall be the highest tribute which each one of us can ever pay to ONE OF THE GREATEST SAINTS WHO WALKED ON THIS PLANET in a human body !!

Question: What does it mean to know one's self?

Answer: To know one's Self means that just like you have worn clothes, then are you the clothes ? No! Is the skin, you? No! Are you the flesh? No! Are you the blood? No! Are you the Pulse? No ! Are you the waste-matter in the intestine-bowels? No! Are you the one who arrives? NO! No I am not any of these ! In other words, that which you are not, do not accept is as "I am". Then you will know your self. It is such a simple and easy point! One time if you have accepted that "these I am not", thereafter, do not accept them as "I am". Do not spit out and later lick it again. To know one's self, to do nothing for one's self and to attain Paramatma (God) all three of these are very easy. What ever direction you wish to walk, is up to you.

See! I am telling you a point. This point is one of pride, but my intent is not to say it with pride. I have searched and am still searching on the subject - Ease of Realization. According to the scriptures the steps laid out are shravan (listening/hearing the divine names/qualities of the Lord), manan , niddhiyaasan , dharana (concentration), dhyaan (meditation), and samadhi (mystics absorption) - savikalp aur nirvikalp samaadhi, then sa-beej and nir-beej samaadhi and there after one attains realization. All these steps have been learned by me. I have also become quite immersed in these. I have done quite a bit of shravan, manan, niddhiyaasan, dhyaan, but the point is only one - "I am not that". Now for just this point why dig out a mountain?

I am telling you a simple point, but brothers and sisters, you do not have faith in it. Oh! Brothers ! I am not intent on cheating you. I am not intent on deceiving you ! I am not ambushing your trust ! I am sharing with you that by which you can realize as quickly as possible. In this you create your own obstacles, by saying - how is it possible for realization to take place so quickly? It did not happen with this other person, then how can it happen to us? What I am suggesting is try it out and see for your self. If you are unsuccessful, you can take the long road. I do not stop or object if you take the long path. Do as I say! If you realize quickly than it is nothing but gains. If not the long route is ever open and available for you. What is coming in the way? If you do as I say, then even for the long step by step approach you will it find easier. If you ask me, there will be no need for you to take the longer path. Earlier I, myself did not know about this. Without any abilites, knowledge, meditation, samadhi etc to directly attain that state, thereafter which nothing remains to be known, to be done and to acquire, this I was not aware off. When I was not aware of it, I engaged in many disciplines and restrictions, I stayed in solitude, I gave up meeting any one. You will be surprised to know that I even weighed the roti (indian bread) before eating, to avoid eating more than absolutely essential. Same with sleep, to sleep only a limited time. I kept very few possessions with me. I did not ask anyone for anything. "I do not have this thing.".. I never said this to anyone. I stayed like this for many years. I underwent many hardships. If I share with you, you will be shocked.

I know that when a sadhu does not ask for anything, he is better received, and there is great peace around him. And if he seeks something from another, then he will be lowered in the eyes of the others. Whoever he asks from, he will become lowered in their eyes and he will become a "taker". And the one he is asking from, he will become their slave. Saying all these things is not good, but I am saying this to make you believe, and have faith in the fact that I have tried all of these things and seen for myself. This too is a path, but it is a long path. Whatever spiritual disciplines you engage in, will never go to waste. But it will take a long time. My passion is around how to quickly and with ease one can attain realization / salvation? I continue to search on this even today !

Simply speaking, I have concluded by this one sentence which says it all - IF YOU WANT ANYTHING FOR YOUR SELF ! IT IS DEATH.

WE ARE SITUATE IN GOD

One excellent, very easy, very straight forward point. That is - Do not have any desires of any sort, whatsoever. Neither of Paramatma (God), nor of Self (Atma), nor of the World, nor of Salvation, nor of Benediction, have no desires at all and be silent. Be still. Because Paramatma is present in all places, in the form of stillness. If there is no want, no desire of any sort, then Paramatma can be realized instantly, Self-Realization can happen, perfection and complete fulfillment is attainable !

This is everyone's experience that some desires are fulfilled and others are not. It is not a rule that all desires will be fulfilled. The fulfillment of all desires is not in our hands, butit is in our hands to give up desires. When no more wishes, no more desires remain, then you will be naturally situated in Paramatma. You will have the realization (experientialknowledge) of God. No wants, nothing to do, no place to go, no place to arrive, nothing to study, nothing to practice, that is all there is - only these simple points. In just these few words, everything has been said entirely ! It is due to desiring something that we expeirence bondage in this world. On leaving these desires completely, once and for all, one becomes naturally, situated in Paramatma (God), present everywhere, in entirety.

In all your activities remain neutral and impartial. Have no attachment (likes) and aversion (dislikes).

"Tulasi mamata Ram so, samtaah sab sansaarRaag ne rosh ne dosh dukh, daas bhaye bhav paa." (Dohaavali 94)

There are actions and there are objects. Both these are in Nature (Prakriti). While discontinuing relationship with objects and actions, become dependent on only Paramatma (God). Take refuge in only God, That is It. You are already naturally situated in God.

In a dream a lady's child was lost. She was deeply distressed and grieving. But when she woke up from her sleep, she saw that her child is sleeping right next to her - The point of this message is that wherever you are, there Paramatma (God) IS completely and entirely. Wherever you are, there itself be still !!

Jai Shree Krishna To talk about Swamiji is like "shakhachandra nyaay" ! You can never describe His enormous simplicity, and greatness. I agree with Miraji Dass. He was living Gita. What an aura used to get indeed created when Maharajji was around ! He once said that His spiritual journey started at the age of 12 with the recitation of BG 15:6 - Na tad bhaasyate Suryo, na shashaako na paavakah ..... yadgatva na nivartante, tad dhamam paramam mamah". That was the goal, which He set for Himself ! Once He said that in the beginning He used to even weigh the food before eating so as to fall in line with meditation principles etc. But later He found that you cant realise Paramatma by aid of inert. You can realise Paramatma by renouncing the inert. He had one desire: How to make Paramatma Realisation methods easily available to Sadhaks. His Divine words : KITNI SARAL BAAT ! KITNI SUGAM !! used to be at the end of His discourses quite often. He loved to present complex principles in very very easy language !He had a goal : To present to Sadhaks the EASIEST METHODS OF SELF/GOD REALISATION. Once Swamiji told that Holy Gita was never made "kanthastha" by Him ( He never made efforts to learn by heart Gitaji) . He said He found that to be already "kanthastha" ( He found that He can already recite it by heart...without reading Gitaji book) !! Once some one asked Him: Why is He writing "Swami" ( Master) before His name and "Dass" ( Servant) after His name ? He replied.... "Swami" is caste. "Dass" because "Dass bhava" is very Dear to me ! Even for me to write about Revered Swamiji is an honor, breathless respect, for ONE I never knew. Dear Sadhaks having read the Divine Love of those that sat before Him, and thinking of HIS words that I have read, right now, late at night fills me with soft gentle Peace.So tonight this is my meditation.

Sophiaji we may share this great misfortune, but here at this Forum, we are touched by HIS DIVINITY, radiated from the Souls that were in past times, in HIS presence.

I feel like a wondering pilgrim who has stumbled onto sacred ground. So forgive me Dear Brethren, Dear Swamiji, if I am course and clumsy, but my heart is glowing.

Dear Loving Sadhaks, Just like all words fall short in describing the Glories of Bhagavaan, similarly, there are no words that can even remotely come close to one drshti (sight, viewing) of Swamiji. LIFE CHANGES FOREVER !!! BEYOND ONE'S OWN COMPREHENSION AND ONE CAN NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN !!! One is wonder-struck ! Filled with nothing but admiration ! Somewhere I read about Poojya Sri Ram Sukhdasji .I am sketching the following from my memory.If somone can give a better version, it will be inspiring.

Late Sri Ram SukhdasJi was a great saint but remained anonymous..He was the VC of Rajasthan University. He lived to the ripe age of 102 and breathed his last breath in Gita Bhawan, Rishikesh, near Gangaji.

He was offered by many all the comforts for his old age but he spurned them.

He could not be photographed and hence there is no photo of him.

He was the soul of Gita Press and is a household name in the field of spirituality. He spoke with utmost humility with the name of Narayana all the time on his lips.

He was not a great speaker to impress people by his knowledge. He was a realized soul.

He lived to the ideals of Gitaji.

Swamiji changed directions of many souls forever. He was simple but razor sharp. Before you completed your Q , He would understand the core of it.

He was very very witty. I remember once He caressed His bald (shaven) head and said : There is no "sukha"(happiness) in this world just as there are no hair on my skull ! Regarding "becoming Sadhu" , He used to say there is no sense becoming Sadhu without leaving attachment from within and then would supplement by adding : "Hamne to Sadhu banke dekha hai" ( I have seen this by actually becoming Sadhu) .

He laughed freely making you instantly realise how a liberated soul feels from within. His forehead used to sparkle like the Sun.

He was indeed the Jewel Crown of God Himself. His words used to touch the souls invariably. Ego- He would describe ego : "Jaanate nahin ham kaun hain" (Don't you know who I am? ) - this bhava of an egoist as to "who I am" still makes me laugh and wonder as to the depth of understanding of the Great Saint. He was universally respected. There used to be a pin drop silence in the huge audience, invariably, during His discourses. He would call the "keertans" after His discourses as "prasad" ! He never boasted of Himself and always called Himself to be a sadhak. A circle of devotees used to get formed around Him when He would go back after giving pravachan so that no body touches His feet or takes the dust. No Jaijaikar, no dancing, no raising of hands by females- an unprecedented aura used to get created. Still His powerful words "Sajjano" (gentlemen) echo in our ears.

I am speaking to Divine Sadhaks from deep within, not to show something, but to express gratitude to Swamiji Ramsukhdasji Maharaj.

Swamiji , through His audio casettes and books, entered our home for the first time in 1981 when my Mom in law bought His couple of books and a dozen casettes. Since then slowly and steadily the very bhavas of all souls in home changed. Today nearly 3 decades after , the home is full of God fearing souls. There is God everywhere, there is peace and bliss everywhere. The children are all now spiritual. The grand children wait for Ganesha Puja days like a farmer waits for rains in the desert. They start preparations weeks before, decorate the home in their own way. They invariably participate in Daily Puja and patiently sit with me during that. They particularly enjoy "keertans"! They never forget to touch their eyes and foreheads if by mistake Sadhak Sanjeevani or Ramayana slips out of their hands or is wrongly touched. The youngest one (5) places the book on her head and puts in the shelf.

In fact, last month, my younger son, forgot small idol of Goddess Saraswati in London while migrating from London to Dubai. He became so restless upon discovering the same that he asked one of his colleagues to fly to Dubai with the same. His father laughed and paid the cost of trip happily, of course, after rebuking him of his negligence. I pleasantly witnessed the unrest in him and thanked Swamiji by soul.

Words can't express the gratitude to Swamiji. It can only be felt.

Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharaj never allowed himself to bephotographed through out his life. He never touched money.. He neverallowed any person to touch his feet or to take the dust from theground on which there were his footprints. He never touched a womanafter childhood.. Once a person kept flowers on his charan paaduka (footwear) , he stopped wearing footwear. There was a ban during hisdiscourses for clapping, for putting any donation boxes outside /near the grounds on which his discourses were held etc. Nodecorative chairs, no garlanding, no pomp and show, only amicrophone and 50,000+ devotees, in Calcutta even 100,000 peoplewould hear the realized soul (in my eyes) at a time in a pin dropsilence environment - 3 times in a day.. He would receive food as"bhiksha" (alms) from households where purity was instilled. Henever looked at the world for getting anything out of it. He gave,gave and gave to the world.He willed that there should be no memorial etc. built in hisremembrance. He willed that his mortal remains be deposed of with acouple of hours after he left the body and more ....

He never made any Guru and he never made any chella.

The most divine moments of my life have been :-

(1) Reading of Sadhak Sanjivini.

(2) As a result, I felt an inexplicable surge of love for Swami Ramsukh Dasji inside me. I attended his satsang at Gita Bhawan, Rishikesh. I used to touch his feet (though at mind-heart level).

(3) Reading of Sadha- Sudha-Sindhu.

(4) The most divine moment was when I hit upon this 'Satsang forum' by chance and got 'addicted' to its regular diet.

All of you are 'Swami Ramsukhdasji' as far as I am concerned.

And I bow my head before all of you.

Hari OmSwamiji's words, ways of answering Qs were so extra ordinary, deep and clear that, when I decided that I should share some of them with Divine Sadhaks , I became over whelmed with His Divine memories. Let me still share one such beautiful answer:Q : If some one has realised Paramatma then what should he do?A. After you have realised God, nothing remains to be done/known/got ! Therefore, after Realisation what one should "do" , this Q does not arise. Still it can be said that one should become silent.(Should not say/talk about it, should not propogate about it, should not leave clues about it, should not claim it )Thereafter He narrated a story of a King who realised Self . In order to know , if any other also has realised so, he ordered his ministers to go to Saints, learned people and bring answer to the Q that "If some body has got some very good thing, then what he should do?" ! Ministers asked this Q to many people. Some replied it should be properly stored, some said it should be properly kept, properly sustained. Some said he should always worry about its safety and should be very cautious. Some said he should never handover the same to others. Some said he should not trust any body and ensure personal custody. Etc etc. But one person said : If you have got something very good , then why should you let it know to others? Why to shout about it? King understood. He went to his residence and respectfully said to him: Ask anything from me, I will give you (thinking that at the most he will ask kingdom- doesn't matter). The other realised person said : Give me promise again that you will definitely do so . King said: I promise I will give whatever you ask. Then the other realised person said: Please never again come to my home, and never call me to your home... If you come or call me people will keep coming to me and request me for getting their work done. King got surprised. Reply: I have desired you not calling me or coming to me. I have not said that I will not call you or come to you. If I need, I will come to you !Therefore, if you have realised Self/Paramatma , you should not talk / shout about the same. Consider Divine Sadhaks ! Also "desirelessness" of the realised person ! The silence !! The stillness !!!Jai Shree KrishnaVyas N B
