Guest guest
II 1:19 II sa ghoso dhartarastranam, ridayani vyadarayat nabhas ca prithivim caiva, tumulo 'bhyanunadayan (Gita 1:19) The tumultuous sound echoing through the earth and the sky rent the hearts of Dhrtarastra's sons, who had usurped the kingdom by unjust means. From Gita Prabodhani in Hindi pg. 9 by Swami Ramsukhdasji -------------------------- Chapter 1, Verse 19 is as follows; SaH = that GhoshaH = uproar Dhaartra-raashtraaNaam = Kauravas' Hrudayaani = hearts Vyadaarayat = rent NabhaH = the Sky Cha = and Pruthiveem = the Earth Cha = and Eva = also TumulaH = tumultuous Vyanu-naadayan = resounding English translation:- With the reverberation occupying the entire space between the Earth and the Sky; that tumultuous uproar rent the hearts of the Kauravas, the sons of Dhritarashtra. The unrighteous ones, even though larger in number, are always afraid of the righteous ones. Those who have a strong belief in their just cause, they will always muster courage for the right action to fight any enemy. Sanjaya indirectly signalled to Dhritarashtra that the days of Kauravaas are now numbered. Sanjaya hoped that Dhritarashtra will be smart enough to take the hint and still manage to prevent the devastating war. Unfortunately, Dhritarashtra chose to ignore those subtle hints. The tumultuous sound produced by the extra ordinary conches of the great heroes of the army of Pandavaas was so deep and dreadful that it had the desired effect of disheartening the numerically superior army of Kauravaas, due to their guilt conscience.
