Guest guest
OM Namah Shivay, Dear Friends, I would like to share wonderful story. Hope you will also enjoy it. --- A very young prince is kidnapped by robbers. He forgets all about the palace, even about his father and mother. He grows up as a bandit. The little prince is now a grown man. One day after many years, the king's spiritual teacher was passing by and see the prince and recognizes him, and with great love embraces him, and calls him " your royal highness. " The young man, outraged, pushes him away. But the teacher's faith is unshaken. He begins to tell the young man stories about his childhood, how life used to be in the palace. Gradually the prince begins to remember. Finally, memory clears. He draws himself up: " Now I recall, " he says slowly, as if awakening from a dream. " I'm not a bandit. I simply forgot who I was. " He returns home to his father and mother. We are all children of God, but we've forgotten who we are. Kindly share your thoughts? Warm Regards, Santosh Sharma -------------------------- NEW POSTING Dear Sadhakas, namaste! The story given by Santosh Sharmaji clearly reveals the nature of God or Self-realization. It declares we cannot become what we are already. It is just that we have forgotten and need to be reminded, in our case by Sages and Saints or Swamiji, all representing God. Why have we forgotten or cannot realize easily even as Swamiji says God is already attained? If the knowledge path appeals one as it would seem like for some of us, then play a little Devil's advocate. Ask yourself how come I am taking myself as this body and mind? Is there any evidence? I, then, observe: Mind holds the memory of relationships this body has with others, desires, likes and dislikes, image about myself " I " call I(a bit more permanent) and world, beliefs, opinions etc etc. This body is not telling it is " me " . I discover, then, only when any thing is perceived by sense organs with the help of mind(thoughts-feelings) we say it is happening to " me " , by assuming our body to be that " me " . At this point we may see by the grace of God that all our experiences need some anchor to hold them, to tie to some concrete center and poor body is used for this purpose and the sense of " me' forms the root in terms of this thought. Over the years this sense " me " , the root gets so strong and credible we take ourselves to be " me " and never question it. In not questioning " me " has free reins and drives us crazy by growing more branches and leaves of caste, nationality, religion, position, family background etc etc etc. But the good news is that now we have caught " me " red handed and are not going to be fooled by it. It may continue for a while due to its momentum, but then cannot entice us anymore. every time it arise, it sees the Atman-SELF and it surrenders(merges in it)! We know without a doubt we cannot be that for which we don't have proof, meaning that thought of " me " cannot be my true nature, and true nature is devoid of " me-mine " . Then subsequent realization comes I am THAT which is always present in all experiences, before and after experiences, between experiences, in sleep or dream. Finally all experiences are made up of the stuff-vastu of SELF, Vasudevam Servam! Such is only ONE call by any name, Consciousness, God, Truth or simply THAT! We are all children of God,but we've forgotten who we are. Kindly share your thoughts?Warm Regards,Santosh Sharma--------------------------NEW POSTING Dear Sadaks, Read Baja Govindam slokas and meanings. It says about Geetha, Bagavan and you and the topic posted. B.Sathyanarayan -------------------------- Namaste We are Sat-Chit-Ananda - Existence-Consciousness-Bliss Absolute. We have been SatChitAnanda and we will forever be SatChitAnanda. To weep and wail; to suffer and have grief and sorrow, is not our mission in life. We may come in contact with or be in proximity with the imperfections of life, its dualities, its ups and downs, its pleasures and pains, its joy and grief, its happiness and sorrows, but they are part of the world, not part of us. Why do we go through this thing called life, sometimes in distress, sometimes in frustration, sometimes in elation, sometimes worried, sometimes anxious, sometimes in a state of self-pity, sometimes in a state of acute sorrow? "You should not sorrow, you should not grieve," is the firm admonition of Bhagavan to Arjuna, and in the Upanishads issue this clarion call: "Awake, awake, be aware, be aware, open your eyes, become awake, become aware." We exist in that immeasurable ocean of Satchitananda, which is our beginning and our end - aham adischa madhyam cha butanam anta eva cha ( I am the beginning, the middle, and also the end of all beings). It is an Eternal fact, It is always there. Why do we forget who we are? Maybe it is the Svabava - the original, uncontaminated nature - being undermined and overcome by the acquired nature. To rediscover one's own true nature - one's own Svabhava - is possible only when one is liberated from one's acquired nature. This path to Perfection requires tremendous effort but Bhagavan tells us how to do it: Devoted each to his own duty, man attains the highest perfection. How engaged in his own duty, he attains perfection, that hear. From whom is the evolution of all beings, by whom all this is pervaded, worshiping Him with his own duty, a man attains perfection. Better is one's own Dharma, (though) imperfect, than the Dharma of another well-performed. He who does the duty ordained by his own nature incurs no evil. One should not relinquish, O son of Kunti, the duty to which one is born, though it is attended with evil; for, all undertakings are enveloped by evil, as fire by smoke. He whose intellect is unattached everywhere, who has subdued his heart, whose desires have fled, he attains by renunciation to the supreme perfection, consisting of freedom from action. GEETA 18:45 to 49 In the negation of the acquired nature - the Para-dharma, one comes to the supreme discovery of one's own original nature. The process of negation involves casting aside 'egoism and violence; arrogance and lust; anger and possessiveness.' Forsaking egoism, power, pride, lust, wrath and property, freed from the notion of "mine," and tranquil, he is fit for becoming Brahman. GEETA 18:53 To become aware of the Para-dharma which one has ignorantly adopted is to move in the direction of discovering the svadharma. The discovery of one's own nature is truly a supreme state, because the Brahman and the Atman are identical in nature. To discover the Atman is therefore is to discover the Brahman. An inquiry into the processes of the mind enables us to see how we have built up an acquired nature due to which we are caught up in Para-dharma and have lost sight of the Svadharma. To become aware of the acquired nature is the start of the process of being free from it. Fixing thy mind on Me, thou shalt, by My grace, overcome all obstacles; but if from self-conceit thou wilt not hear Me, thou shalt perish. GEETA 18:58 We are Satchitananda - it is with us, it is within us, it is about us, it is the Grace of the Unknown, it is there for all of us, but it is Egoism that stands in the way. The Ego is the acquired nature of mankind. The Ego is the sum total of mind's efforts and the accumulated knowledge of the mind. So long as this knowledge speaks, the voice of Wisdom is unheard. The mind must be stripped of everything and divested of the nature that is has acquired for the purposes of its own security. Total surrender come only when all desires and aspirations of the mind drop away - they are not consciously discarded. He who does that and puts his complete faith in Bhagavan is truly saved and experiences the pure original state of Satchitananda. Occupy thy mind with Me, be devoted to Me, sacrifice to Me, bow down to Me. Thou shalt reach Myself; truly do I promise unto thee, (for) thou art dear to Me. Relinquishing all Dharmas take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee from all sins; grieve not. GEETA 18:65, 66 To abandon all duties, to relinquish all dharmas is to cast away all the acquired interests of the mind. Man's total surrender is not to something external; it is a surrender to oneself - to one's true and original nature. Thus the doctrine of surrender is not a doctrine of dependence - on the contrary, it is a doctrine of unrestricted freedom. When man discovers, or rediscovers his own nature, then does he declare: Nanyah Panthah Vidyate Ayanaya - There is no other Path at all. It is in this realization that Arjuna declares Karishye Vachanam Tava - I shall do thy bidding, I shall do Thy word. Destroyed is my delusion, and I have gained my memory through Thy grace, O Achyuta. I am firm; my doubts are gone. I will do Thy word. GEETA 18:73 Arjuna realized that Bhagavan was indicating to him only his Svadharma. He had so far resisted moving along that path because he had not seen his own Svabhava. Once the perception of his true nature came to him, he spontaneously chose the Path that was indicated to him. His conflict was over; his doubts were dispelled. The Brahman was discovered in the very heart of the Atman. Ram Ram Deosaran Bisnath -------------------------- Shree Hari Ram Ram Deosaranji, You said... Guest guest
OM Namah Shivay, Dear Friends,I would like to share wonderful story. Hope you will also enjoy it.-A very young prince is kidnapped by robbers. He forgets all aboutthe palace, even about his father and mother. He grows up as abandit. The little prince is now a grown man.One day after many years, the king's spiritual teacher was passingby and see the prince and recognizes him, and with great loveembraces him, and calls him "your royal highness." The young man, outraged, pushes him away. But the teacher's faith is unshaken. He begins to tell the young manstories about his childhood, how life used to be in the palace.Gradually the prince begins to remember. Finally, memory clears. Hedraws himself up: "Now I recall," he says slowly, as if awakeningfrom a dream. "I'm not a bandit. I simply forgot who I was." Hereturns home to his father and mother. We are all children of God,but we've forgotten who we are. Kindly share your thoughts?Warm Regards,Santosh Sharma--------------------------NEW POSTING Namaste. My apologies for going on for so many paragraphs - it's such an important topic, the ultimate goal of all beings, that one can go on and on....I urge all to read and study GEETA, at least and especially Chapter 18. Do it repeatedly until you have a good grasp of it. And he who will study this sacred dialogue of ours, by him shall I have been worshipped by the Yajna of knowledge; such is My conviction. GEETA 18:70 We should not stop studying and living Chapter 18 because we learn everyday and we observe, discern, and become more aware of the underlying message, and the nuances and subtleties, each time we partake of GEETA. When you teach you learn even more; to those who teach GEETA to others, Bhagavan considers them 'dearer to Me': He who with supreme devotion to Me will teach this deeply profound philosophy to My devotees, shall doubtless come to Me alone. Nor among men is there any who does dearer service to Me, nor shall there be another on earth dearer to Me, than he. GEETA 18: 68, 69 Ram Ram, Deosaran Bisnath. --------------------------- narinder's thoughts .........................yes ??????????? words are words ..............and, words are thoughts ............ words that lead the self to the Self , to Bliss that seeks not the other for Joy or Love are the words that narinder seeks from the Lord .............. and in return( a prayer ?), surrender at the Lords feet, all words that perpetuate dependence on words .......... Ah, there is nothing new under the Sun, my friends, ......and yet, the ray that warms narinder's heart this moment now, .......is new, ever new !!! The ray that began its journey many sun-years afore, to sing and dance in nari's heart, this moment now , to waltz narinder away unto the Sun's embrace, is ever new, ever the self, ......and will so remain ever new, ever fresh, ever pure, ever unsoiled, and unsullied .... !!! ah, my friends, all that needs to be said, spoken and shared, has been uttered in myriads of words ........and yet, narinder , once again, begins his song of Love to share, to speak, to say, ......how beautiful you are , how loving your being, How joyous your Love for the Self ....................... the Self you truly are !!!!! ah, Joy!! AUM narinder bhandari --------------------------- Shree Hari Ram Ram Arjuna too had forgotten.... and then ... he remembered - "nashto moha, smritir labdhvaa" (Gita 18:73). I now recollect, I now remember. Swamiji says - That which is remembered, what effort is involved in that ? It is not that you have to even try to remember. On it's own, it surfaces and you recollect. "Smritir labdhvaa." It was once forgotten because the attention was not there on it. But now it is remembered, because the attention is on it... it is as simple as that..... When attention is on the world, the real Self is forgotten. Meera Das, Ram Ram -------- PRIOR POSTING Dear Sadaks,Read Baja Govindam slokas and meanings. It says about Geetha, Bagavan and you and the topic posted.B.Sathyanarayan--------------------------Namaste We are Sat-Chit-Ananda - Existence-Consciousness-Bliss Absolute. We have been SatChitAnanda and we will forever be SatChitAnanda. To weep and wail; to suffer and have grief and sorrow, is not our mission in life. We may come in contact with or be in proximity with the imperfections of life, its dualities, its ups and downs, its pleasures and pains, its joy and grief, its happiness and sorrows, but they are part of the world, not part of us.Why do we go through this thing called life, sometimes in distress, sometimes in frustration, sometimes in elation, sometimes worried, sometimes anxious, sometimes in a state of self-pity, sometimes in a state of acute sorrow?"You should not sorrow, you should not grieve," is the firm admonition of Bhagavan to Arjuna, and in the Upanishads issue this clarion call: "Awake, awake, be aware, be aware, open your eyes, become awake, become aware."We exist in that immeasurable ocean of Satchitananda, which is our beginning and our end - aham adischa madhyam cha butanam anta eva cha ( I am the beginning, the middle, and also the end of all beings). Ram Ram Deosaran Bisnath --------------------------Shree Hari Ram Ram Deosaranji, You said... Narinder Bhandari --- --------------------------PRIOR POSTINGS SUMMARY OF SADHAK RESPONSESShree HariRam Ram - we cannot become what we already are.- sense of "me' is root deep and take firm hold on us growing morebranches and leaves of caste, nationality, religion, position, family background etc- our anubhava shows that "me" cannot be my true nature, and truenature is devoid of "me-mine".- Subsequent realization is I am THAT which is always present -SELF, Vasudevam Servam! Consciousness, God, Truth or simply THAT!- Scriptures are filled with miraculous stories.- Faith and blessings of God and Gurus makes impossible, possible.- There is great power in Satsang.- We seem to forget that the sole purpose of human birth is for soulto unite with God.- 'Aham Brahmasmi' - Read 'Atma Bodha 'by Adi Shankeracharya --------------------------- PRIOR POSTING Dear Sadhakas, namaste! The story given by Santosh Sharmaji clearly reveals the nature ofGod or Self-realization.It declares we cannot become what we are already. It is just that wehave forgotten and need to be reminded, in our case by Sages andSaints or Swamiji, all representing God.Why have we forgotten or cannot realize easily even as Swamiji saysGod is already attained? If the knowledge path appeals one as it would seem like for some ofus, then play a little Devil's advocate.Ask yourself how come I am taking myself as this body and mind? Isthere any evidence?I, then, observe: Mind holds the memory of relationships this bodyhas with others, desires, likes and dislikes, image aboutmyself "I" call I(a bit more permanent) and world, beliefs, opinions etc etc. This body is not telling it is "me".I discover, then, only when any thing is perceived by sense organswith the help of mind(thoughts-feelings) we say it is happeningto "me", by assuming our body to be that "me". At this point we maysee by the grace of God that all our experiences need some anchor tohold them, to tie to some concrete center and poor body is used forthis purpose and the sense of "me' forms the root in terms of thisthought. Over the years this sense "me", the root gets so strongand credible we take ourselves to be "me" and never question it. Innot questioning "me" has free reins and drives us crazy by growingmore branches and leaves of caste, nationality, religion, position, family background etc etc etc.But the good news is that now we have caught "me" red handed and arenot going to be fooled by it. It may continue for a while due to itsmomentum, but then cannot entice us anymore. every time it arise, itsees the Atman-SELF and it surrenders(merges in it)!We know without a doubt we cannot be that for which we don't haveproof, meaning that thought of "me" cannot be my true nature, andtrue nature is devoid of "me-mine".Then subsequent realization comes I am THAT which is always presentin all experiences, before and after experiences, betweenexperiences, in sleep or dream. Finally all experiences are made upof the stuff-vastu of SELF, Vasudevam Servam!Such is only ONE call by any name, Consciousness, God, Truth orsimply THAT!Namaskar...................Pratap Bhatt ------------------------------- Yes we seem to forget that the sole purpose of our existence is forour soul to unite with God.
