Dear Sir,Thank you for this nice article. In this connection of objectives, sentiments and action, i recall my studies on Karma and knowledge. The main questions were the combination of two and these two independent parameters for achieving Moksha or Salvation. Can we become enlightened and attain salvation through 1) Karma only or2) Knowledge only or 3) Karma aided by Knowledge or4) Knowledge aided by Karma? or other? However , quantative analysis was never done, at least I have not seen so far and even to day this debate is going on. It is the first time to see that some quantative analysis has been done .Our objective is to realize the divine.to realize the divine weightage on 1) objective is given 94%,2) feelings/sentiments/faith is 3%3) action contribute for 1%It may be easy to understand for common person like us , if the details are given on how to determine the weightage, as stated. We will be very grateful if the above is explained in a common man language. Request to kindly to look in to the issue. With kind regards.Dr. Rajeev Agnihotri

Regarding weightage, Swamiji did not use percentages but expressed these in terms of Indian currency / "annas".

Objectives - 15 out of 16 annas; feelings/sentiments/faith - 3 paise and "effort" - 1 paise. Since these daily messages are going to sadhaks globally, the percentages were used. The emphasis is not quantitative analysis, as much as, emphasizing the great importance of having a firm single-pointed aim/objective/goal/purpose of Self/God Realization in this very birth. Hope this helps. Gita Talk Moderators, Ram Ram

In order to ralize the divine elements, the importance of an objective is crucial. Evaluationg in terms of percentage. The aim, the objective accounts for 94 %. The "feelings / sentiments" account for 3% whereas the "actions" account for merely 1%. However these days an aspirant's eyes are fixed only on actions, not sentiments, nor objectives. We will now discuss the importnance of objectives.

What is the goal of our life? What do we want to achieve? Which essential element do we want to know and recognize and which to bring into realization? On giving due consideration to this , one's only aim, only objective would be to realize God, to know the divine elements, to recognize one's everlasting relationship with God and to make God our visible reality. Only God is eternal. Nothing else is. Whether we particpate in worldly matters or not, whether we get food or not, whether we get clothes or not, whether we get a place to sleep or not, whether we get rest or not, whether we get respect or not, whether we get praise or not, all of this is immmaterial. Our aim is only one - Realizing God's Divine Elements / God's grace (Paramatma tattva)

"Experts in politics may criticise or shower praise, riches may come or go; death may knock today or years from now, one who stick fast to his aim, his objectives, one who does not deflect form his chosen path, nor takes a step back."

If the sole aim of a person is to achieve divinity, he cannot stand still at one place. When one does not get money, a person fond of money would not be interested. When one's real objective is to reach God, can he be deceived or deviated by sweet words? What is Paramatma's Divine Element (Paramatma tattva). Anyone who has a strong thirst for knowledge, cannot be satisfied with speeches and discourses. He cannot stop there. If he stops then he does not have a firm aim, however educated or learned the person may be.

We have only to reach Paramatma. This objective is worth 94%. Faith or sentiments may change often; sometimes good and sometimes bad. Sometimes these are pure (sattvik), sometimes high activitya and passion filled (rajasik) and sometimes filled with inertia and ignorance (Tamasik). But one's objective when firm, never changes. If these change then nothing is attained, or the real objective is not truly known or understood.

Aim and objectives are basis of human foundation. If one has no objective, then as such he is not a human being. Many are receiving education these days, but many do not know what they are studying? The aim and objectives are not defined. How surprising that they go to study and yet do not know their objective.

In truth, this human body has not been received by our volition, but has been bestowed by Paramatma to attain the objective of realizing Him. It is because of this objective that human birth has great importance. Otherwise the product of five elements has no sanctity whatsoever.
