Guest guest
Dear Swami ji, PRANAM. Happy to know about your website. Now, I would like to learn reading of BHAGWAT GITA & MEMORISING. So kindly guide me in this regard. With Pranam Dr Mohan Rao Delhi-------Way to Remember the Gita Verses (Shlokas)See and visualize each of the eight syllables in a single line of a verse(shloka), and carefully, with single-pointed attention read it five times. Before memorizing the verse, it is absolutely essential for the student tolisten to their own articulation and pronunciation of each of the syllables in aline and wherever a mistake is being made, to correct it.To avoid making a mistake, take each of the eight syllables in a single line, and along with reciting them, count them with your fingers. Each line when it is read in this manner ten times, it will be remembered. Before going to bed, the new shlokas that were memorized on that day, recitethem without looking at the Gita, and while recollecting them, go to sleep. On waking up, once again revisit those shlokas and repeat recollecting them. With ease these shlokas will be remembered. If you make it a practice to recollect and revisit recitation of theseshlokas both while going to bed and on waking up, in a short period of time, these verses will be very easily memorized. Finally to stabalize the recollection of these verses (shlokas), regularlyand daily at the very minimum one time without the help of the book (Gita),continue to recite them. From "Saral Gita Saar" by Swami Ramsukhdasji in Hindi, Page 3.Ram Ram-------------------------------Gita is a song of grace. On taking it's refuge and then simply on recitation, most wonderous, divine and unfathomable peace arises within. Merely recitingwith an attentive mind, one attains great peace of mind. One method is to firstmemorize all the Gita shlokas with the understanding of their meaning and thenreverse recite the same, sitting in solitude, without the aid of the book, beginning from the last "shloka", "Yatra Yogeshwarah Krishnah.....," to thevery first one, "Dharma Ksetre Kuru Ksetre..." By doing so, much peaceprevails. If the Gita is recited daily in it's entirety, she reveals newspecial, unusual, distinctive meanings and realizations to the spiritual aspirant. Even ifthere is any query or doubt in one's mind, it gets resolved automatically, during the course of the recitation. In reality, no person is competent or capable of fully describing the glory ofGita. Who would dare to describe the great majesty of the infinitely gloriousand holy Gita?Ram RamFrom "The Bhagavad Gita - Sadhak Sanjivani" by Swami Ramsukhdasji. InEnglish, pg. IX."-----Hari OmDr Mohan ! What a great Q you have asked ! The very desire in youreflects first stage: outset of liberation process for Sadhak-SHUBHECCHA (auspicious desire)At the outset I would recommend you to read "Gita Gyaan Praveshika"book written by Param Shraddheya Swamiji Shri Ramsukhdasji Maharajand published from Gita Press, Gorakhpur ! There you will find indetail how to sit, on what to sit, in which direction to sit, thesacred mantras which should be recited before starting Gita Paath, the slokas chronology, etc etc. Coming from Swamiji- they areultimate advices !In order to learn Gitaji by heart:1 Every day read as a rule either 18 or 9 or 6 chapters.2 The break ups of slokas (sandhi vicched) , meaning and bhava -first see/grasp them and then recite repeatedly.3 Recite in loud voice the verses!4 When you have learnt by heart, then don't see the book again.5 Do reverse "paath" - say 20th , then 19th ... Slokas of sayChapter 15 !6 Think the meaning while reciting. Etc etcImportant: While remembering/reading Gita - surrender to Gita.Use "belief" more than mind.Jai Shree KrishnaVyas N B----------Shree HariRam RamRecitation of Bhagavad Gita in Shraddhey Swami Ramsukhdasji's voiceis available free online. It is very plain, no melody as such, butsomething about Swamiji's voice / version, memorizing becomes simplyincomprehensible !!! Unexplainable !!! How that happens? It is at: http://www.swamiramsukhdasji.org/html/download.htm. It is at thebottom of the page; Click on one chapter at a time.Vyasji has relayed a very good method for memorizing that Swamijiused to prescribe to sadhaks. Ram Ram------------------------------Note: In response to Dr. Mohan's request for Bhagawad Geetarecitations, I recommend the set of four Audio CDs by SwamiSarvangananda from Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha, Belur Math, WestBegal.
