Guest guest
Note: forwarded message attached. The New with improved product search Two years back a young vadkalai iyengar boy who can speak Tamil but canot read or write Tamil asked me whether I can help by giving in English a very brief Thiruaradhana Kramam to start with. I gave one and am giving below the same. If some similar soul is interested to use this as a starting point. EXTREMELY SIMPLIFIED THIRU ARATHANA KRAMAM (VADAKALAI SAMPRADHYAM) ************************* · Enter perumal sannidhi by putting the right foot first. · In the mind pray to Dwara Palakas " Shandan " and " Prasandan " for permission. · Prostrate before the sannidhi Do achamana (NOTE: This is an extremely concise procedure meant to instill interest for beginners / those who race against time. Traditionalists are requested to bear with the steps deleted here.) -oOo- Prelude 1. For Thiruarathanam, mental status is very very important. One should do it with absolute sradhha (dedication), bhakthi and ananda. The frame of mind with which we do is more important than the method and rituals we adopt or omit. We should feel that we derive ananda by doing thiruaradhana and indebted to Lord for making us do this. We should not do the aradhana with indifference and a casual frame of mind. 2. If purified (Madi) clothes are not available, we can use silk dhothi and angawastram. As far as possible, the author's suggestion is, NOT to use silk made out of killing silk worms. 3. If possible we should wear 12 Thiruman Kaappu. If not, at east imagine we are wearing 12 Thiruman. But certainly full Thiruman Kaappu should be in the forehead. 4. If we have Pavitra Malas in the house, we can wear them. 5. If we have the Thiru Adi Chodu (ie., the impression of the feet of our acharyan in the silk cloth-available in the andavan ashrams), we may for a time keep it on our head, before commencing Aradhnam. 6. Generally, Thiru Arrathanam is done after performing Madhyaniham. In the case of Sri Jayanthi (gokulakshtami), it will be done in the night. 7. If we cannot do Aradhana every day, we may do it on Holidays at least and certainly on our birth day or special days like Sri Ramanavami, Deepavali, Thirukkarthigai, Andavan Thirunakshatram etc., 8. As per our custom, persons who had undergone samasaram alone can perform thiru arathanam. 9. Before starting arathana, collect Thlasi leaves, sandal and flowers. _ · Ring the bell ( Thiru Mani) · Three times clap the hands, say " OmYam Vayave Namaha " , ring the bell and open the salagrama box. · Recite " Asmath gurupyo namaha, asmath parama gurupyo namaha, asmath sarva gurupyo namaha. (If acharyan's Dhaniayan –ie. sloka in praise of one's acharyan is known, it can be recited.) " · Recite " Kowsalya supraja rama, poorva sandya pravarthathey, uthishta narasarthoola, karthavyam deivamagniham " . ( If known and time permits one can recite Thiruppavai and Thiruppalli ezhuchi also). · 28 times recite Moola Mantra ( Om Namo narayanaya) as if you do Pranayama (touching nose and ear in pranayama pattern each time). · 3 times utter " sriman narayana charanow charanam prapathye, srimathey narayanaya namaha " . ( if time permits, we can recite Swamy Desikan's " Nyasa Dasagam " and " Adaikala Paththu " ). · Imagine in the mind that this body is burnt and Perumal has given us a Jyothir sareeram to perform His aradhana. · Do pranayama and do sankalpaa – " Baghawaneva swasmai swapreeyathe swayam eva, thiruvarathanam karayathi.
