Guest guest
Respected members: To add to what shri Srinivasan has mentioned, ensure that the towel or 'capturing' vessel is strictly reserved ONLY for Sandhya...this should not be used for any other purpose. The writer has seen people use the ordinary stainless steel plate and then use the same for eating purpose.or storing some dry items.....Similarly the towel should not be used for any other purpose. It has to be a cotton towel. Handwoven is preferable. Do not use detergents, soaps etc. for washing this towel. Use ample water, wring it with your own hands - do not use the washing machine, servants etc. The color can be preferably white or you may soak it in turmeric water and over a period it will acquire a yellowish hue. While drying the towel try to keep it isolated if it is possible. In many hotels the clothesline is generally inside the toilet/washroom itself and this can be a problem at times. Try to dry/hang the towel outside if feasibe While pouring water over the towel, try to sprinkle less quantities from the 'uduruni' and not in a 'flow'. The cloth should naturally soak up as much water as possible. Care should be taken not to hit the saturation point because then the water will start spreading all around and cause a mess....Fold the towel fourfold and then do.. all will depend on case-to-case. Before placing the towel on the floor sprinkle a little water, uttering the holy names... Om tat Sat Tat tvam asi Srinivasan Rangaswamy andavan <r_sv cc: " Argyam " during Sandyavandanam 12/30/03 03:59 PM Please respond to andavan I faced this problem , whenever I travel and staying in a hotel. The direction is very important. For the morning (praatha) sandyavandanam,it is east. For the midday and evening it is facing north.Thse are for Argyam.I use the correct direction, and the water is poured over a turkey towel spread in a chair in front of you.If you have flower pot inside your flat particularly with thulasi plant, you have another choice and you can orient your direction around that. This will ensure the direction as well as the argyam water is not mixing with the drains. The towel can then be dried comfortably. By this we can ensure both the direction as well as the sactity of the water poured as argyam. Of course this is not an issue for those having natural facilities and open space in the houses. I hope this gives some ideas. Anymore thoughts from others are also welcome.
