Guest guest
Dear Bakthas, I have a doubt. We are in a flat and there is no open space in it. There is only one sink in the kitchen and we can give argyam only facing West. The other sinks are in the toilets and for washing hands after dining. Hence, is it all right if all the three times if one can give argya facing West? Kindly clarify. A. Govindakrishnan
Guest guest
Respected Bhakta: The directions are sacrosant. The place is immaterial. The mind and attitude is paramount. From your mail it is clear that there is a kitchen. This is enough. Any place surely comprises of all directions. So all you have to do is to turn your body to the relevant direction As regards the actual ritual of 'giving' the arghyam, one supposes you are using the 'tambalam' ...Please 'offer' the argyam on this 'tambalam'. You might have to do a little bit of forward bending and stretching to ensure that the water does not splatter over the sides and over the feet, or spills randomly etc. during the actual pouring. In case you have an open terrace please use it. From your mail it seems your problem is discarding of the holy water. The simpliest expedient is to use small Tulasi plant. nowadays the pot comes in various sizes. One is sure you can keep a small pot of a single stem. Pour the argyam water into the Tulasi. Use water sparingly given the circumstances you mention. Ensure that water does not overflow with the mud from the side of the small pot. With a little care, practice and patience your devoution will acquire merit. If this is not possible, collect the water in a small earthern or brass/copper vessel and over weekends take it out and pour onto some plants in a garden etc. Exercise good caution over this water. It is quite potent especially after the Gayathri upasana. Remember the argyam water also belongs to Sriman Narayanan and HIS divine consort among other places also resides in the Tulasi. So you double your worship. Lastly, be very very sure about your mental frame when doing the Sandhya.
