I want to know that whether we can keep Saligrama in odd numbers or in even numbers only in the house. Kindly also let me know when somebody gives the saligrama to us for doing pooja if they cannot afford to do pooja whether we can receive the saligrama and do pooja. Kindly also let us know the pooja details for saligrama and also let me know whether we can do thirumanjam daily for the Saligrama idol. I have remembered to have read in the "kurai ondrum illai" by Swami Mukoor Lakshminarashimha char that Saligrama should not be kept in 2. It can be 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc., Where it is kept in 12 and above, it is equal to a temple. So please avoid 2 saligramama. I have seen my father doing daily Saligrama thirumanjanam when he was capable of. I have heard elders doing daily Thiruaradhanma and Thirumanjanam to Saligrama. I think people who cannot do aradhana to Saligrama can better give it to the temple as some saligrama moorthams are considered ugraha. A. Guest guest Posted February 16, 2004 Report Share Posted February 16, 2004 With reference to my mail of yesterday on this subject, to day I could get hold of the book 'Kurai Ondrum Illai" by Sri Mukkur Lakshminarshimhachar swamiga. At page 388 and 389 of Volume III (Tamil) he has stated about the Saligramam and the upasana. There is a small correction to the previous mail. He has stated that in the house one should not keep 2 or 3 salagramams but we can have any number like1, 5, 6,7. A housse in which there is 12 salagramams the house will be considered as a 'kshetram'' He also adds that 'Hiranyagarba' salagramam is very auspicious and a good salagramam will be of 'shining blcak' like a jamun fruit.
