Attached is a rare photo of a mural picture depicting Sri Nadadur Ammal

(Vstsya Varada Guru) blessing 5-year old Venkatanathan (Swami Sri Desikan)

seen on the ceilings of Kachchi-vaithAn Mantapam of Sri Varadraja Swamy

Temple in Kanchipuram.

 

 

 

At the age of five, Swami received blessings from Sri Nadadur Ammal

(You will establish Vedanta on a firm basis and refute the doctrine of

its opponents. May scholars well versed in the Vedas hold you in

great esteem. May you be the recipient in a great measure of all

that is auspicious.) Sloka #6 of Swami Sri Desika Mangalam composed

by Sri Nainaracharya glorifies the event as:

yO bAlyE varadAryasya prAchAryasya parAm dayAm

avApya vrudhim gamita: tasmai yOgyAya mangaLam
