The present book is encyclopedic in character, presenting everything that

one needs to know about Hinduism. The author, who has dedicated his life to

the propagation of Hinduism in USA for the past several years, may also be

described as the beacon light of the Srivaishnava tradition in far off

lands.

The book, running to 830 pages, has been divided in six parts, which take

the general reader step by step to the intricacies of Hinduism, the

importance of Vedas and Upanishads, the Tattvatraya, the efficacy of

Prapatti, a synopsis of the 32 sections of Svami Desika’s “Rahasya Traya

Sara”, the refutation of the Advaitic concept of Maya, the role of pontiffs

of the Srivaishnava Maths and an interesting account of the concepts of

creation and dissolution. This book contains a lot of valuable information

for students of history of religion. The Annexures and the Epilogue contain

the list of Gotras and Pravaras, names of the 27 Nakshatras, Yogas and

Karanas, names of the months and years. Details of the Non-Indian and

Non-Hindu authors who have done extensive research into religion in general

and Hinduism in particular, also find a place in this book.

The author has to be congratulated for the patience with which he has

produced this monumental work which reflect his deep and all-round knowledge

of the Srivaishnava faith, and for the commitment with which he has been

serving the tradition. He has been disseminating Hinduism and Vaishnavism in

a foreign land, for the benefit of those who need reliable information in a

style that is highly admirable and simple. One may also observe in

conclusion that the author has perhaps erred on the side of being too

elaborate with every kind of information compiled in the book, of course,

with the grand intention of educating the young aspiring Hindu-Vaishnavas

born and bred in foreign lands.
