Guest guest
Dear Sri Krishnan: As you may know (or, to complicate the issue further), two popular systems are in vogue - Drig Ganitam (Tirukkanidam, as we pronounce in Tamizh) and Vaakyam. The former is popular with computer users. I have a nifty astro application which generates accurate horoscopes according to Drig Ganita (which literally means, " the Mathemtics of Directions " ) system. Again, quite a few Ayanaamsa factors are known, but Lahiri is the most popular. Ayanaamsam is the correction in Indian Astrology that takes into account the precession of the earth. The third major anomaly is the definition of a year for Dasa calculation. I prefer 365.25 days-a-year since it more or less coincides with the solar year (Used in Tamizh areas). Please send me the date, time and place of birth of your son; I can email a horoscope with the above parameters, also taking into account the Daylight Saving Time, if applicable. Since you had provided correction of 4.5 hours, you must have reckoned the DST. A horoscope must be cast according to the local data, obviously, since the natal chart gives the longitudinal position of the planets in the Zodiac measured as the deviation from the mathematical normal. For Nakshatram purpose, the correction of time 0f 4.5 or 5.5 hours is good enough, though the Lagnam, an important factor in the assessment of a horoscope may be different because U.K. is so far above equator.I AM NOT AN ASTROLOGER, PLEASE. My wife and I are in India to find an Iyengar bride (!!!) for my son who is 31 years. All of us are U.S. citizens. With best wishes. C.S.
