Vedic Scholars Honoured Honouring of Vedic scholars and book release marked the 99th “Thirunakshathram” of Srimath Thirukudanthai Andavan, ninth Mutt head of the Srirangam Andavan Ashram, celebrated on the Ashram premises at Alwarpet here today. The day began with “Sathumarai”. On the occasion, the present head, 11th Acharyan, Sri Rangaramanuja Maha Desikan, honoured 28 Vedic scholars belonging to the Vaishnavite, Saivaite and Madhva sects. They were presented with a shawl, a scroll and a silver utensil for conducting poojas, besides a cash prize of Rs.5,000. Three books – ‘Paramapadha Pangam,’ ‘Veera Sozhiyam’ and ‘Sri Desika Sthothraani’ – were released by Srimath Andavan. This was followed by ‘Anugraha Bashanam’ (religious discourse). The five-day Thirunkashatram celebrations began on Thursday last with Veda, Grandha and Prabandha parayanam. On the final day today, Veda Parayanam was completed, said R. Rajagopal, chairman, national committee of Srimath Andavan ashram. Sri Rangaramanuja Maha Desikan will camp on the Ashram premises on Desikachari Road till May 25.
