Kaidala

srihi [srihi] Srihi Dear SrIvaishNavAs, http://www.pbase.com/svami/kaidala These are the pictures from Chenna Keshava PerumAL temple, situated at Kaidala in Tumkur District, Karnataka. ( Article about this temple has appeared in Sri Nrusimha Priya - English, Published by Ahobila Mutt). Swami Chenna Keshava is 8 feet tall and Sri and Bhoo Devi accompany the perumAL. It is a Hoysala style Temple and it is infact built by the same famous Sculptor - Jakannacharya , who constructed the Belur Temple as desired by King Vishnuvardhan. You may be aware that due to a faulty sculptor of Chenna Keshava Statue at Belur, Jakannacharya had to cut his hands and then with the help of his son he sculptured the present moorthy of Chenna Keshava at Belur. He then returned his native Kaidala and sculptured the statue of Chenna Keshava at Kaidala as desired by Perumal and on the day of concretion of Chenna Keshava perumal, he regained his hands, In Kannada the saying goes like this "Kai Kotida Dala = Kaidala" (That is - Perumal gave the hands)This is 10 Kms from Tumkur Town. Parthasarathy Bhattar is looking after this temple. The Rajagopuram is being constructed by Dharmasthala Veerendra Hedge. So kindly plan your visit this place and also Devarayna Durg where two Narasimha Temples are there. Dasan Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar http://www.pbase.com/svami
