The event was well attended by around 200 sevarthis. The religious rituals started on the 8th day of the uthsavam in Washington DC ie on Sep 1st for the pranapratishtai of Sri Chakrathazhwar with Sri Yoga Nrusimhar. Jaladhivasam,dhanyadi vasam, homams and kalasa pujas were performed to mark the occasion. At the conclusion of Purna huthi and kalasa puja, Perumal and parivaram traveled to New Jersey for the pratishtai. Perumal purappadu started at 6:30 in the morning . The pratishtapana mahothsavam started as early as 7 AM in the morning with Sudharshana pratishta homam. Sri Venugopala Perumal with His parivaram, Sri Ramanujar and all of Acharya Padukas of Srirangam Srimath Andavan Periasramam had assembled to witness the holy event. Traditional seva kalam recitations began around 8:30 AM and continued for more than an hour. This was followed by Sri Vishnu Sahsranamam and Sri Lakshmi Ashtothram. Following this, the important event of Prana Pratishtapana muhurtham took place between 10:25 AM and 10:45 AM where Netra UnmeeLanam(opening of eyes) for Sri Chakrathazhwar and Sri Yoga Nrusimhar took place. At this time, a special chAya darsanam(through a "kannAdi") was arranged for the bhagavathas to see the murthis through it. Slowly by then bhagavathas started pouring in and it was amazing to see ahuge turn out (close to 200 bhagavathas) to have the darshan of Perumal. Immediately following the pratishtai of murthis, a GRAND thirumanjanam was performed for the deities by Sri Venkata Varada bhattar of Sri Ranganatha Temple, NY amidst veda gosham reverberating the ambience. Pancha sooktham with taitriyopanishad were recited with full fervor during Perumal's neerattam. There was a huge gathering of bhagavatha goshti who took part in the recitation.The atmosphere was filled with energy and devotion from thebhagavathas. This was followed by thiru alankara sevai of all the deities present including udaiyavar which was a sight to behold. At thecompletion of alankaram, a GRAND THIRU KALYANA UTHSAVAM of Sri Venugopala Perumal was performed. Several bhagavathas who sponsored the uthsavam felt truly blessed to be part of this holy kainkaryam ! At the conclusion of Thiru Kalyana Uthsavam, thiru amudhu sevai for perumal was performed. Grand feast was prepared for this occasion. Paduka Aradhana was performed after this for all the acharya padukas of Srirangam Srimath Andavan periasramam. After this, sathumurai took place. This was immediately followed byAcharya Sambhavana for all our PurvacharyAs. Theertha goshti followed this where Swami Desikan's and SrimathPeriandavan's vazhithirunamam was recited followed by Sri DesikaMangalam and SrimathPeriandavan Mangalam. It was amazing tosee all the assembled bhagavathas line up in queue to wait for theirturn to have the Perumal theertham,SatAri, Sri Bhashyakar theerthamand paduka theerthams of the all thepurvacharyas of Srirangam SrimathAndavan Periashramam. A special Maryadhai for the perumal came from SriRanganatha Temple, Pomona,NY. Some sweets were also brought from the templeas "seer" for the Kalyana Uthsavam of perumal. A grandfeast(prasadam) was arranged for all the devotees who came forthe uthsavam. It was amazing to see that with so many devotees turningup, no one wentback disappointed without having food. The event concluded with a grand Dolothsavam(swing ceremony)was performed for Sri Rukmini Sathyabhama Sametha Sri Venugopala Perumal who were seated in the silver dolai decorated with beautiful flowers. This uthsavam was a memorable event for the all the devoteeswho were fortunate enough to attend. Photos of the uthsavam will be published in our website(www..org) very soon.
