Dear BhAgavathAs,

AdiyEn would request BhAgavathAs to

attend the 87th TN completion celebrations of Acharya

Sarva boumar Parvakottai Srimad Andavan, Sri GopAla

Desika MahA DEsikan Swami, at Srirangam on 10th April

2008 (Sarvajit-Panguni-28-Rohini, Thursday).

 

Greatness of an AchArya

------------------------

In the 3rd Athikaram of Thirukural, there are 10

Thirukkurals which talks about DinAcharyas and

SadAcharyas (verses 21 to 30). AdiyEn have sampled a

few below, to extoll the greatness of an AchArya

 

Ozhukatthu NeethAr Perumai Vizhupathu

The purpose of Spiritual literature is to extoll the

greatness of a SanyAsi who is stooped in cleaniness

 

ThuranthAr Perumai ThunaikUrin vaiyathu

IrantArai Enni Kondarru (22)

 

It is not possible to measure the greatness of a

SanyAsi, it is like an attempt to count the number of

births and deaths on Earth.

 

Irumai vagaitherindhu Indhu PUndAr

Perumai PiRakirru Ulaghu (23)

 

One who has researched the nature of mortal and

immortal worlds (Immai-Marumai, Loka-Moksha) and

undertakes Dharma is the greatest!

 

The rivers are sacred not just because of their

association with the sacred feet of the Lord, but its

association with AchAryas who sanctify and bathe in

such rivers. Even our temples are called Divya DEsam

due to Mangalasasanam by Nityasuris who came for us as

AzhwArs and AchAryas and showed us the Lord and how to

attain " true & eternal " happiness.

 

Such being the greatness of the AchAryas to think of

them, and presenting ourself at their feet/service for

katAksham, consuming Sreepadha theertham will not only

remove us of sins but provides us the strength to

pursue a life of happiness with " JnAna, AnushtAna &

VairAghya " .

 

AdiyEn have received the greatest joy in associating

myself with this " MahAn " and " NadamAdum Deivam "

ParavakOttai Srimad Andavan, and would like to request

Bhagavathas to experience this MahAn's blessings on

Swamy's 87th TN completion.
