The Panguni Brummothsavam for Sri Adhi Jagannaatha Perumal was celeberated as usual at Thiruppullani. The festival started on 13/3/08 and with Vidayaththi today the 23/3/08 the festival is over. Already the details of the 10+1 days festival is at http://raamadhuthan.blogspot.com and to avoid repetition the "specials" for this year alone is briefed here. If any wants to know more details they may refer to my previous postings last year (I posted the events daily wiith photos). This year, it seems that Varuna Bhagavan wanted to be here to enjoy tha Brummothsavam. It is rainin.........................................................g for the past 16 days which is quite unprecedented here. Normally it is very rare that we will have rains that too for 1 or 2 hours during the entire summer (from Masi to AAdi). But this is not rain but havydownpour for all these days. During these 16 days we have seen AAdhityan just for an hour or two only. But, except on 5th and 7th days rain stopped for few hours to enable Perumal Thiruveethi PuRappadu. And on the 4th day , being Garuda Sevai Manadakappadi of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam (a separate posting on this follows) from 10AM t0 midnight rain totally stopped eventhough the whole day was cloudy. But on the Rathothsavam day Perumal made everyone here to realise His power and everybody was emotional with tears rolling from their eyes with anjalihastham to Perumal. The previous day, the 8th day festival -- Kuthirai vahanam -- from eveening 6Pm it was raining and the temple authorities were worried since the Thiruveethi PuRappaadu had to be done for 1) VedupaRi and 2) for Thiruther Kadaaksham without which Rathothsavan can not be performed. But suddenly by eleven rain stopped just for an hour enabling us to finish off these important events. And again from 12 midnight there was heavy non stop downpour till 1015 AM on the Rathothsavam day. Everybody here were afraid how to do the Uthsavam and praying to Perumal .Being Friday Ther has to be pulled off the Nilai before 1030AM. Just by 1020AM, as if we switch off a light, it stopped with very light drizzling. The Ther was immediately pulled by a very few pilgrims and ther moved just four feet. The nearby villagers usually coming to pull could not reach in time due to rains. But suddenly tourists belonging to other parts of TamilNadu and Andhra in 4 buses arrived on the scene and joined with us. and without any stop anywhere, at one breadth Ther was pulled back to the Ther Nilai within one and half hours. (On previous years it will be more than 3 to 4 hours. we use to pull under scorching Sun) And till such time Perumal reached his Asthaanam by 3PM the rains waited and immedaiately began to batter which continued till Saturday 0100PM. Hence this year Theerthavari Uthsavam could be performed only at Chakra Theerththam, the Temple Pushkarini instead of at Adhi Sethu. During all the 10 days on the Niyamanam of HH Srimad Andavan Sri RangaRamanuja Maha Desikan thatheeyaaraadhanam was arranged at Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam and at Sri Ahobila Mutt also thatheeyaaraadhanam was arranged from Thirukkalyaanam to Thiruthther (from 66th day to 9th day) as was done during previous years.
