I can visualize how Mahalakshmi would look like, as we can imagine Ranganayaki thayar, or Komalavalli thayar etc. We also know how to imagine Shakti/Paravathi, as we have seen in Samayapuram or Brahadeswarar alaayam etc. We know Saraswathi to have a veena in her hand. Now can any one tell me how to visualize Devi Gayatri; During Sandhya Vandhanam, I find it difficult to visualize her image, while I recite Gayatri Manthram. Padmanabhan Your query regarding Sri Devi Gayathri I was able to get a picture of Sri Gayathri as a supplement to Gnana Alayam a fortnightly magazine published from Arunachalapuram Adyar in January 1998. In this picture the Goddess is seen with four heads and four pair of hands and seated in Lotus flower. She holds Sanka Chakra, in two upperhands, lotus and mazhuvu (an axe like structure) in the next two hands, a bowl and chaatai ( a whip like) in the next pair of hands and Gadai and Kankanam in the lower pair of hands. If you can visualise the above form mentally you can do so.. Otherwise contact the magazine in the above address and see wheher they will be able to help you. Acharyas and elders say-- ishta Devatha images, specially that of Archa Moorthis like Devaadhirajan, Arangan, Thiruvengadavan help during the Japam.
