Guest guest
This message is for those who are overseas rs for Sri Ranganatha Paduka magazine, published every month by Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam. Our Ashramam accepts only life subscription for these overseas rs and the cost of subscription was getting updated periodically, due to factors beyond its control, like rise in cost of stationary, printing and airmail postage. Last year, it was announced that for overseas subscibers only life subscription will be acceptable and the airmail rates were fixed as US $ 400 for life, restricted generally 20 years. This was based on the postal tariff prevailed till last year.It was Rs. 45. From October 2008, this rate is revised to Rs.105 to Rs.120, depending on the weight of paper per issue. On an average, there is a monthly increase of Rs. 70, for airmail postage alone. If there had been a nominal increase,we would have absorbed the cost.As the increase is very steep, we may have to request all the existing Overseas rs, to volunteer to remit an additional amount, to the extent of increased cost only. By this mail, I am requesting a feedback from those overseas rs,who would be willing to bear the increased cost. Based on the fedback, we will work out the quantum of increase being considered and inform you.Majority of overseas rs are in USA and the rest in other countries. Those who have Indian connection, may pay in rupees directly to the Magazine office in Chennai, so that we do not lose coversion and bank charges for each payment made in overseas currencies. But everyone of them will continue to get their airmail copies, till we agree on the agree on the steps to be taken. But your feedback is very important and please do reply to this e mail, quoting your subscription number. Daasan, R.Srinivasan, On behalf of Sri Ranganatha Paduka. Guest guest
Srimathe Ranga Ramanuja Maha Desikaya Namaha: Dear Swamin : Adiyen feels that it is very reasonable and fair to increase the postal cost as per actuals. Ashramam should not have to absorb it. Electronic delivery may be an option to consider for the long run. Many of us keenly await each issue of Ranganatha Padhuka as it is a direct blessing from HH.
