Sreemath Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha.

On the day of Chithirai Sravanam, being the first Sravanam after Samprokshanam, Sri Srinivasa Perumal was presented, as part of the Mandalabishekam, Thirumanjanam (Abhishekam). After Perumal and Paduka Aaraadanams on tha day, that is 18th April, Saturday, H.H. Srimath Andavan Sri Rangaramanuja Mahadesikan, gave His blessings to the Committee formed to build a new 3 tier Rajagopuram plus Maha Manadapam at Velamur Temple.

Incidentally, this is the place of birth of Upanishad Bhashyakarar, by name, Sri Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan. This is the same place from where the Prakirtham ( present), Srimath Anadavan started His Yaathraa to Srirangam to take to Sanyashramam in the year 1989, at the call of Srimath Tirukkudanthai Andavan. That is the reason, Prakirtham Andavan adorns the same Tirunamam of the famous Upanishad Bhashyakaarar,Sri Rangaramanuja Mahadesikan.

Velamur is thus very much attached to Ashramam, as Prakirtham Andavan in His Poorvashramam days, while being a school teacher in tha village for several years, took care of this temple there, dedicated to Sri Lakshmi Narayanan and Sri Sundaravaradarajar .

Further Velamur is a place where Saama Vedam has flourished and the Agraharam was full of Saama Vedhees. H.H. has given a beautiful introduction about the history of Velamur in the you tube video file link,http://www.youtube.com/rsrinivasan1

You may open this video file and listen to the history.
