Respected All: Sri Ramanuja Mission of Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam has been blessed by His Holiness Srimath Andavan Swamigal to build a temple here in USA. Sri Ramanuja Mission pursued on this effort and identified a 3 acre land in South Brunswick, NJ for which a purchase contract was signed with the seller. Currently the application is in process and has been filed with the township of South Brunswick, NJ.

There have been some sudden unfortunate developments in the last few days. The politicians in South Brunswick, NJ are using dirty politics to prevent us from constructing our place of worship. In order to stop their underhanded tactics, We need your support and your presence at an upcoming Council Meeting. The only way to stop their scheme is to show up and have our voice be heard.

Currently our proposed Temple does not require any variances. In other words we have submitted a plan that abides by every requirement of South Brunswick law. Under current regulations the politicians have no reason to block our application. The 3 acres of the land that we have contracted to purchase is located in Rural Residential (RR zone) with some existing conditions to build the Temple without the approval of the zoning board. The conditions are to leave a 25 feet on both sides of the building, 50 feet in the front and back of the building (called buffer area), drive way of 20 feet for the fire truck and the maximum height of 35 feet.

We submitted the building plan from our architect and made sure that we comply with all the township requirements. We are not requesting for any variance at all. Understanding this, the politicians have resorted to changing the law to make it impossible to comply with. Our land is located in a septic system. One third of the South Brunswick zoned as RR(Rural Residential) Zones are marked to utilize Septic system. South Brunswick Township does not provide any public sewer connections and has no intention of providing a public sewer system. In fact the closest public sewer system is over 2 miles away and belongs to another township.

Knowing this, the Council is trying to impose last minute additional restrictions to our plan that could make it difficult for us to go forward. On Tuesday night the South Brunswick Township decided to bring an amendment for the use of the land, for building a Temple, with the condition that the land needs to have a public sewer system. The fact is that the township is not providing a public sewer system but is going to make a law that requires the Temple to have a public sewer system.

They plan to bring this motion up most likely in the very next council meeting and amend for a religious purpose with requirement to have a public sewer system and make it as a Law. WE MUST MAKE OUR VOICE HEARD AGAINST THIS TYPE OF DISCRIMINATION. CHANGING THE LAW AT THE LAST MINUTE TO PREVENT US FROM BUILDING A HOUSE FOR GOD IS UNACCEPTABLE.

We need your support to voice our genuine concerns. We request each and every one from our community and supporters of our cause residing in South Brunswick and neighboring places to attend the next Township meeting and voice our concern. The elected council men should understand our disappointment and our fury against such underhanded way of disrupting the plan.

Please join us in supporting our cause to build this temple and in making sure that the South Brunswick Council clearly hears our voices loud and clear against their devious way to stop this from going forward. We just heard today that the township council is trying to pass an ordinance on Tuesday, May 12th 2009 to amend its law which would prevent us from realizing our dream of having a temple in South Brunswick, NJ. PLS SHOW UP ON THAT DAY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BE COUNTED !! WE NEED TO DEFEAT THEIR UNDERHANDED ULTERIOR ILL ADVISED DESIGNS AT ANY COST !!!!
