Guest guest
Dear Bhaktas,I will be grateful if anyone of you could expound the true sthala puranam of Kalvar sannidhi.I was told by a friend (a Saivite) that this embodies a lesson in humility as this is the only divyadesam in which Piratti is in a worshipping pose with her hands folded in front of Kamakshi, when Piratti was worshipping her to be relieved from a curse from Perumal that made her deformed as Aroopa Lakshmi, because she mocked at black colour of perumal. He also added that it was from this incident that the custom of women wearing sindhoor at the parting of the hair began, as Kamakshi placed her foot on Piratti's parting of her hair after Piratti performed hard tapas to earn forgiveness, and the dust on Kamakshi's foot formed the sindhoor, and she was ordered by Kamakshi (her sister in law) to wear that always as it will remind her of the value of humility and Piratti humbly submitted to become Soundhara Lakshmi Thayar in the sannidhi. And the women who wear sindhoor are blessed by Piratti as a consequence, which is why women wear sindhoor. I was very pained to hear this, me being a devotee of Perumal and piratti. Is this story correct? Please enlighten me about the true sthala Puranam of Kalvar Sannidhi. And also about the significance of Sindhoor.Thank you.Adiyen,BhuvaneshwarShare your memories online with anyone you want anyone you want.
