Ramanujachariar Swami August 18th 2009 3:00 PM at Srimath Andavan Ashramam Sri Venkateshwara Temple Sripuram, Seshadripuram, Bangalore 560 020 Tel + 080 2331 6812 As per the niyamanam of Srimath Srimushnam Andavan, the shathamaana-mahotsavam (centenary celebrations) of Srimath Paramahamsetyadi Mysore Andavan will be celebrated from 18th- 22nd August, 2009, in a most befitting and traditional manner. The program includes the complete paarayanam of Rk-Yajus-Sama-Atharvan Veda, Naalayira Divya Prabhandam, Srimath Ramanyanam, Srimath Paduka Sahasram and other Granthas, as well as upanyasams by distinguished Vidwans. Veda Varidhi Sri. U.Ve. P. Ramanujachariar Swami, (Centre Head, CDAC Bangalore and Asthana Vidwan, Sri Ahobila Mutt) has graciously offered to present a lecture-demonstration on 'Vedas and Research'. The talk is planned to be an awareness programme for Vedic students and scholars of the possible help available from modern computing devices and may help them widen their horizons and also possibly take the help of computer programs for bettering their research in Vedas. The possible help to Computer Science from Vedas also would be mentioned. Dr. Ramanujachariar Swami will demonstrate and explain the knowledge bases built for Vedas and shastras and dwell on curricular improvements to be undertaken at Vedic and Sastra pathashalas covering sAnga, salakshaNa and sabhAshya VedAdhyayanam, Divya-prabandhams and ubhaya vedAntam with demos. Computer Application programs developed at Indian Heritage Group, C-DAC, Bangalore (KP) on Samhita, pada, krama of Rg, Yajus, and Sama Vedas, six Vedanga-s, four upanga-s and Divya prabandhams would be demonstrated. This program is called C-VYASA. Swamy will also talk about the DESIKA program for analysis of Sanskrit inputs by using the Shabda-bodha process. Ramanujachariar Swami, is highly respected in the community of Vedic scholars for his extraordinary contributions in the propagation of Vedas and Sanskrit and the development of modern computing tools to facilitate their accelerated learning, while preserving the rigor of the codes emphasized by the traditional lakshana granthas. He has studied Taittireeya KrishnaYajurVeda, Vyakarana, Vishishtadvaita Vedanta and Nalayira Divya Prabandhams in the traditional Gurukula system and from his father “Bhooloka Nitya Suri†Sri U. Ve Salakashna Ghanapadi Vidvan Sri Parankushacharya Swami. Swami has received the B.E. (Electrical Engg.) Bangalore University, M.Sc. (Engg.), Dept. of CSA, IISc, and D. Litt. Over nearly two decades at the CDAC, Indian Heritage Group, Swami has led the development of a long list of software tools for Sanskrit studies in a host of related areas including natural language understanding (NLU), authoring systems for vedic texts and accent marking, Vedic and Sanskrit text processing systems, databases and analytical tools for various vedangas/shastras/lakshana granthas, and the digitization of rare, unpublished manuscripts. Swami has been teaching Taittireeya Krishna Yajur Veda (kramantham), naalayiram, Vedanta Deepa, Rahasya Traya Saram, Chillarai Rahasyams, Ahnika granthas and other Vishistadvaita Vedanta works in traditional Kalakshepa style.
