My obeisance to HH Srimad Andavan and the group. I would like to express

what occurs to my siru moolai. My words merely echo the workings of my mind. Elders

and learned please correct and guide me.

As followers of Emberumaanar, we are more into dasya bakthi than other

forms. Lord is worshiped in Smaranam, Keerthanam, Vandanam, Dasyam, Sakhyam and

Padasevanam bhavas.

Smaranam – Hearing and speaking about Him

Keerthanam – The bhajan and other forms

Vandanam – Temples

Dasyam – Jeevathmas, though “qualitatively” same as the Lord Himself,

quantitatively are infinitesimally small. Further, because of prakriti

sambandham, manas and Ego are two great enemies for it. Dasya bhakthi is the

best means to get rid of the shakles, to attain to self realization.

Here, a whole new topic opens up for discussion. I have asked this

question to many people but have had no good answer. What role Self

realization, a term predominantly used by brahmavaadis has in a

visishtadhvaidhi’s role. Self realization also called “kaivalyam” as it is

called is shunned in our tradition (Kaivalyam narakaayathe). This is due to the

fact that one who enjoys kaivalyam is immersed in the self, not needing any

other thing. In Gita, Lord mentions how one can attain this status before

performing Saranagathi to Himself. Does this mean one has to realize himself

(self realize) before performing saranagathi? Many of our nithyanushtaana karmas

are tuned to attain self realization. Aacharyas have hidden this practices in

our daily observances. Examples are pranayaamam, mantra japam (Gayathri Mantra)

etc. IT WILL BE SUCH A GREAT THING IF ANDAVAN HIMSELF ELABORATELY SPEAKS ON THE

TOPIC TO CLEAR OUR THOUGHTS. I respectfully request periyavas in this group to

request HH to speak about this topic – teleupanyasam or in Mylapore Ashram. I

live at walking distance to the Ashram I can arrange for video taping and

preparing dvds or upload in Utube. We can even think of more such topics and

prepare lot of material, which we can pass on to our children.

Sakyam – Friendship (Arjuna)

Paadasevanam – Self explanatory

Respected Bhakthas ,

Adiyen Sridharan

Dasasya vigyabhanam. Please clarify my follwing queries.

Recently My Bhajan

Mandali BHAKTHSWARAA BHAJAN MANDALI performed Namasankeerthanam in

Thirumali . Programme was arranged by TTD and the same was

telecasted live in SVBC on 18/10/2009. We have informed by the Devaswom

people to sing songs in praise of Lord Narayana, accordingly we gave the

performance inpraise of Lord Ramaa, Krishnaa. and Srinivasa. Namasankeertanam

has been considered one of the easiest way to reach God in this Kaliyuga.

My doubt here is

that I have seen only very few people of our community are encaged in this

Namasankeerthanam. Moreover except Thirupathy Temple No Vaishnavite

temple arranging Namasankeerthanam as one of the programmes during their

festival or uthsavam time. But they are arranging Karnatic Music Kutcheris

and even dance programmes. Nama sankeerthanam is also an ancient form

of art and the same is the basis for the Karnatic music. Why our temples

are not patronizing Namasankeerthanam? and whiat is the reason for that?

If I have asked anything wrongly please pardon me

Swami,The Smaranam, Keerthanam, Vandanam, Dasyam, Sakhyam and

Padasevanam bhavas are forms of Bhakti as described by Sri Prahladazhwan in Srimad Bhagawathamam. There are 9 forms of Bhakti which also includes Sravanam, Archanam and Atma Nivedanam in addition to above. With Thiruvadi Sambandham of Sri Emberumanaar, for us prapannas lord stands in the state of the bhakti mentioned above. We may be inclined to think 'Atma Nivedanam' to be equally adopted as Daasyam but a prapannan would have all these attributes (eg. upavasam, archanam during Thiruaaradhanam,Keerthanam('Keerthimai paadi poi','Uthaman per padi', 'Isai Paadi Paadi' etc) etc. Our matham is bedam and adiyen does not Jeevatma (Paarathanthryam-dependency) are qualitatively equal as Paramaathma(Swaathanthryam) in any way. Adiyen totally agree that nothing like getting the Thelivu from Archaryar himself.Daasan--- On Tue, 3/11/09, K Rajesh <kc2kby wrote:K Rajesh <kc2kby Self Realization (Kaivalyam) - is it good or bad.. or is it a must?andavan Date: Tuesday, 3 November, 2009, 5:03 AM
