Dear Swamin:The Jambavan sannadhi you are referring to is not Mangalampadu but another temple near Sulurpet a place called Mannarpolur. Please don't get confused. Please see the below response from the Trustee of Krishna Kalyan Trust which is fully supporting the Mangalampadu temple. I just wanted to make sure we give the right information.DasanSrinath.Adiyen

You are right. This has been done completely by the initiative of Sri Selvan, Sri Srinivasan and Late Sri Rangaswamy with support from friends and relatives.

I think the person who referred to Jambavan sannidhi got confused with another temple which is very close to Sullurpet. This place is called Mannarpolur. There is a beautiful Jambavan sannidhi - tradition has that this is the place where the "yuddham" happened between Perumal and Jambavan - Shymantaka mani episode. Sri Radhakrishnan from ISRO/Sriharikota took a lot of initiative there.

If you know this person, it is worth getting the right message across. thanks

Thanks & Regards Shadagopan EyunniSwamy is this true, that someone from ISRO took the initiative for renovating the temple? I know it was fully done through the initiative taken by Shri. Selvan Swamy. Pls clarify. Sowmya Laxmi <laxmisowmyaandavan Sent: Tue, 17 November, 2009 20:48:52Re: Fw: Fwd: mangalamedu

adiyen want to share my experience of my trip to Mangalamedu Venugopala Temple. It is situated near sulurpet in Andhrapradesh, which is approximately 150kms from Chennai. It is on Chennai-kalahasti route.

It is a remote village depending on everything to the nearby Sulurpet (approx10kms) .. There is a very old temple of chaturbuja Venugopalan sannidhi. he is having sanku and chakra and holding flute with other two hands like playing flute(moolavar photo is not available as it is not allowed for photography) one leg is straight and other one is slightly bent at footlevel as if touching the ground with his big toe. He is very beautiful. Utsavar is Varadarajar with ubhaya nachimars, as it is believed that the utsavar is brought from Kanchi.

A family hailing from that village formed a sabha and doing all necesssities for temple maintenance and also conducting festivals from their funds. An article is attached (thanks to my friend M.N.Srinivasan and the publisher for permitting me to extract this article for forwarding to you).Besides this they are helping the village in extending medical, educational facilities. etc

I feel that if it is brought to the notice of our people as an eye opener for taking care of their village deities, as most of the village temples are in dilapidated conditions.

With regards

Srimathe Ranga Ramanuja Maha Desikaya Nama:

Dear All,

His Holiness Srimad Andavan ,Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan's visit to Mannarpolar.

Dr.S. Lakshminarasimhan, my brother in law ( from SHAR  CENTRE)  has sent the following information regarding Srimad Andavan's visit to Mannarpolar some years back., This place  is 3 to 4 k.m away from Sullurupeta. His holiness performed  the Mangalasasanam of   Jampavathy,Sathyabama sametha Venugopal Swamy on occasion  of  Samprokshanam of the temple. The Samprokshanam was performed under the overall guidance of Our Acaryan, His Holiness Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan.  After Samprokshanam ,Dr. SLN. arranged  a visit to the Launch Pad.  His Holiness visited  SHAR launch centre and reached 44 M level through stair case and did not use  the service lift.  With the blessings of His Holiness, PSLV Launch was successful.

Dasan,

P.Sreenivasan

(of Besant Nagar)

Dr.S.Lakshminarasimhan from Shar Centre writes,

" The temple referred to is the Mannarpolur Jampavathy,Sathyabama sametha Venugopal Swamy Temple which is about 3-4 Kms away from Sullurupeta on the road leading to Srikalahasthi from Sullurupeta. This road branches off on the national high way (Chennai-Calcutta). The village is on the western Bank of River Jambavathi(locally called Pamula kaluva - Snake like rivalute). There is sannidhi for Rukmani Thayar. The

Garuda is below the Normal Ground level(NGL)  facing the main Perumal sannidhi. The garuda is comparable in stature to the one in Srirangam temple. Here garuda had gone thro Garva Bangam as he challenged Lord Hnuman. The Garuda(Periya Thiruvadi) has a face with lot of swetting and feels shy to be part of a sath sabha. This is how the sthala purana goes. The temple was renovated with the wide participation of ISRO personnel including adiyen. Some of the notable persons are Dr Rajaji, Ex-Chief Secretary of A.P Govt and who also served as Controller SDSC SHAR, ISRO,Sriharikota (an Island off the Sullurupeta mainland, the principal launch Centre of ISRO), Sri Ramacharyulu, Ex-Head Purchase and Stores,SDSC. The Samprokshanam was performed under the overall guidance of Our Acaryan. His Holiness Ranga ramanuja Mahadesikan

Since Sriharikota is very near-by(17Kms), I arranged visit to the Lauch Pad. Acharyan graced mobile service tower which was housing a Launch Vehicle under integration(PSLV in the First launch pad). The Saellite and the Heat shield integration was yet to be completed. He reached 44 M level thro stair case and not thro the service lift. We received his unlimited blessings and the launch was successful. The place Mannar poluru is called manikanda kshetram and is located about 85Km from Chennai, 39 Kms from Srikalahasthi. The kshetram has a cave which is now closed. Seperate Sannidhis are there for Lord Srinivasa, Jambhavan, Andal, Ramar,Laksmanar and Seetha, Hanuman and Sri Ramanujar. A yagaMandpam is also available. Researchers beleive the temple is of chola constrction. During the renovation we noticed a number of silpas upon sand blasting of the pillars.

The other temple near by is Venegopalaswamy temple at mangalampadu. The temple is maintained by Sri Selavan, an ex proffessor of degree college and his family. The temple has a sannidhi for Lord Desika and the temple is about 10 Kms north of Mannarpolur. Further to this place there is a temple for Lord Adikesava at Uchhoor. The temple is in a ruined state. The villagers are ready to support the cause of maintenance if the temple is renovated. Persons like Sri Radhakrishnan can contribute their  time and effort. Construction supervission etc can be undertaken by Volunteers. Some efforts are under  way. If u can suggest pl feel free. This  place is the native place of a great Telugu Poet by name Athreya. This is also a Srivaishnava Agraharam.

Warm Regards, Dr S Lakshminarasimhanan
