VMS activities and introduction

KrishNabhaktAs,

Now that VMS list has got going, I would suggest some activities to

get us introduced to each other and exchange ideas. Lot of us don't know

each other, even though many of us have met in a conference. In the

beginning period of the Dvaita list, people introduced themselves in

order to get to know each other. It may be a good idea to do it here

also.

 

I suggest that people give a description of themselves, their

interest in mAdhva Philosophy and religion, their vision of the

activities that VMS should be involved in and what they would like to

see in the Web page and the E-mail list. I hope this stimulates lot of

exchange of information and make the goals of the organization and the

electronic services clear. I feel the input and the energy for the

activities of the organization should come from the members.

 

Another suggestion that I have is that people share their pooja

routines and stotra pArAyana routines (how long, how often and any

special tips) with this group. I learnt a lot from pooja activities

while talking with Bindu, Srinivasan, Suresh and other during the VMS

conference. I feel we can post a summary of these discussions with a

typical pooja routine that people practice on the Web site. By sharing

our experiences, we will all grow together in a spiritual sense.

 

Another area where similar sharing of experiences may help is in the

what kind of instructions do people do with their families and their

children. For example, I learnt with conversations in the conference

that some of you do vishNusahasra nama, venkatesha stotra and

krishnAshtaka parayana with the whole family once a week and on Ekadashi

day. This is a very good idea that fosters family participation in

spiritual activities and can act as a very good role model for children.

 

 

 

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank sri Srisha Rao

who suggested the onelist service for use with the VMS E-mail list

activities. This is certainly proved very useful.

 

I would like to see some youth members also participate in the

discussion.
