Sorry for the delay in posting the report of the event.

Many of you may already have seen this on the Dvaita list. This posting

is for those who are not on the CMS list. There was a good coverage of

this event on the India Post magazine about two weeks back.

Best regards,

Sathya.

Sri Krishna Bhaktas,

You may all be aware of the incorporation of VMS

(Vishwa Madhwa Sangha) in USA. The first VMS Sammelana was held in

Washington, DC over the Labor day weekend. The visit of

Sri Sugunendra Thirtha Sripadangalavaru the pontiff of Sri Puthige

Matha one of the eight Sri Madhwacharya's moola Samsthanas sparked

the Madhwa activities, resulting in the incorporation of the VMS

and also bringing all the Madhwas in the US together.

This Sammelana was held recently in the San Francisco Bay area at the

Sri Shiva Vishnu temple in Livermore, California.

The program started with the Sri Venkateshwara Suprabhatha chanting

along with the temple devotees led by the main priest Pandit Dr.

Srinivasa

Charyalu. This was followed by Archana & Mangalarathi to Lord Ganapathi

performed by Pandit Sri Umashankar Dixit.

The program started around 10.45 AM with an invocation by

Smt. Shubha Sheshagiri Rao on godess Sri Saraswathi. This was followed

by a welcome speech by Sri Ram Kedlaya who was running the program for

VMS.The next item was chanting Sri Nakastuthi, Sri Vayustuthi followed

by recital of Sri Vishnusahasranama. The pooja was

simultaneously performed to the images of Lord Narasimha, Udupi Sri

Kirishna and Sri MukyapRana, Sri Bhimasenadevaru and Sri

Madhwacharya. A set of Bhajanas composed by

different Haridasas of Karnataka, were sung in the TaratamYa

(order) by a group led by Smt Shubha Sheshagiri Rao. Then pooja to Sri

Lord Venkateshwara was performed in the main temple sponsered by VMS.

The pandit Dr. Srinivasacharyalu performed ashtothara, Mahamangalarathi

and distributed thirtha prasada. We would like to thank Sri

Parthasarathy Chakravarthy (religious chair of SV temple) and

Dr. Sudhin Vittal (chairman of the SV temple committee) for

their sponsorship of the temple poojas on behalf of VMS.

A scrumptous lunch prepared by the volunteers was served to the

attendees and also to many of the devotees of the temple. We had lots

of food to go around and everybody enjoyed the Madhwa style lunch

prepared by the volunteers.

The afternoon program started with Devanamas melodiously

sung by Smt Shubha Sheshagiri Rao. This was followed by a Madhwa

Philosophy Discourse by Dr. Sethuram Pandurangi who is the President of

the local VMS chapter. Dr. Seturam Pandurangi a doctor by profession,

hails from a family of distinguished Madhwa Scholors from Karnataka. His

discourse was mainly pointing to Bhakthi and Hari Sarvotthama ordained

by Sri Madhwacharya.

We were also very fortunate and blessed to have the company of the

family of Sri Guru Govinda Vittala Dasaru of Mysore, who graced the

occassion with the blessings of Haridasas to the event. Sri Nagaraja Rao

the son of Sri Dasaru and his wife Smt Vatsala are touring USA. We were

all treated to a highly devotional & melodious devaranamas composed by

Sri Guru Govinda Vittala Dasaru sung by Smt Vatsala Nagaraja Rao.

There were two more Madhwa philosophy lecture one on " Contribution

of Sri Raghavendra Tiirtha to Indian philosohy " given by Sri Balakrishna

and " Free Will in Madhva philosophy " given by Sri Manish Tandon who are

both active administrators of the Cyber Madhwa Sangha, which is an

internet based organization in promoting, spreading teaching and

discussion of the Dvaita school of thoughts. This discourses followed by

a vote of thanks by Sathyanarayana.

The program was concluded with the singing of Sri Krishnashtaka,

followed by Mahamangalarathi, prasada distribution and a mangala sung by

Smt. Padmaja Kishore.

The Vishwa Madhwa Sangha would like to thank the Shiva Vishnu Temple

committee, the office bearers, the priests, and the manager of the

temple Sri Tharidandam Sreenivasan for his excellent help in setting up

the audio system. The VMS also thanks India post staff Sri Karthik,

Smt Janhavi and also Madhus Woodlands Hotel, LA for sponsoring the

advertisement for this VMS Sammelana in India Post. VMS also takes this

oppurtunity to offer humble Pranamas to all the Madhwa Matha Pontiffs &
