I don't know if it is just a coincidence or sri Hari prerane, a bunch of volunteers are exploring the feasibility of producing a CD-ROM on Sri madhvacharya over the last couple of days. It is still in very early exploratory stage to say anything about it. I will publish more details if anything concrete materializes. Guest guest
Hari Om, On reading Sri Janardhan's mail I was wondering as to how difficult it would be to create a CDROM on Sri Madhwacharya and Dvaita. There is already a wealth of information on Dvaita home page. The easiest way is to do " offline browsing " from a CD-ROM !. Request CMS and just copy the entire website on to the CDROM and use the browser to navigate thru the contents on the CDROM. More multimedia content* can be added and some more jazzy scripts (or even java applets) added to the html pages to make them more userfriendly (read jazzy ). Add good search capabilities and we have an excellent product ! *some multimedia content I can think of : - audio files of Dasara padas. - images of various Yatis and Dasaru. - images/videos of ThIRThasthaLas - video clips of pooje conducted by our maTas just my thoughts. regards, ramu. -- ramu http://www.srivatsa.net/svbm _______ Get your free @ address at
Guest guest
Hello All, I am not sure of how many people are aware of the Institute - Dvaita Vedanta Studies and Research Foundation - Bangalore, but here is a writeup on it, prepared by Sri.K.T.Pandurangi - Who is one of the Directors. ********************************************************************* This Foundation was formed in 1984 with the objectives of i. preservation of the source literature of Vedanta Philosophy by publication, computerisation and multimedia presentation. ii. build a team of scholars to educate interested people in Vedanta. A Considerable progress has been done since then. The Following lists the projects done and undertaken. (You might be interested in point 3, in particular.) 1.a. About 24 original Sanskrit Vedanta classics are edited with detailed introduction in English and published. b. Six studies in English and Kannada on Vedanta works are published. Among its Sanskrit publications, Nyayamrutam with four commentaries, BrahmasUtraBhAshyam with eight commentaries, three major Upanishads with BhAshya and commentaries, Pramana Paddhati are important. Among its English publications, VishnuTattva nirnaya and TattvaprakAsika with English translation and detailed notes, A comparitive study of Bhagavad Gita, The Vishnu Faith by Glosenapp are important. The History of Dvaita School of Vedanta of Dr.BNK Sharma is translated in Kannada. 2. Twenty endowment lectures are instituted by the devotees of Vedanta in the name of distinguished scholars and persons. These lectures are regularly arranged. It is now proposed to supply the synopsis of the same to a wider circles of Readers through a web-site. 3. A Computer centre is setup. At this centre, CDs are being prepared to preserve the Vedanta classics. Lessons on Vedanta and both traditional and modern debates on Vedanta concepts and issues are to be presented therein. 4. Short term classes and training courses are provided for students abroad, both Indian and foreign. So far a dozen students from USA, Germany, Austria, England and Japan have taken the benefit of these classes. Seminars and special lectures are also arranged. 5. A Good library of printed Vedanta books and Manuscripts is developed. Two senior scholars, Prof. K.T.Pandurangi and Prof.D.Prahladachar guide the activites of this Foundation. The Above projects cannot be achieved without sufficient public support. This support is needed for three purposes - i. Publications ii. A building to house the Library and Computer Centre and iii. To organise seminars and special lectures locally as well as through the electronic media. Therefore, we seek Publication co-operation in the following ways - i. Buy a set of our publication for yourself, your Institute or donate to a student or a scholar. In the case of donation your name will be inscribed on the books donated. For a set of books so far published (36 books) and proposed to be published till 2005 A.D., 5,000 INR (200 USD for people abroad) has to be paid. ii. Institue an endowment lecture in the name of a revered person or a scholar. For this purpose, 5000 INR (200 USD for people abroad) has to be paid. iii. Promote the publication of a sacred work like Bhagavata or BrahmasutraBhashya by donating 5000 INR (200 USD for people abroad). Your name will be printed on the book. iv. Donate to the building fund, 5000 INR(200 USD for people abroad). This is not a support to an individual or an Institute, but is a support to the cultural and philosophical heritage. It is discharging Rishi R^ina. Prof.K.T.Pandurangi, HON.Director. ******************************************************************* In case you need some clarifications, you can contact Sri.K.T.Pandurangi at his residence no: 91-80-6656818. Please don't contact him from 12PM to 4PM IST and from 9PM to 6AM IST. Also, the above writeup does not mention the scheme in which all the books published till 2000 (Which includes most of the books mentioned above and which includes the latest - Principal Upanishads by Sri K.T.Pandurangi) from 1995 can be bought for 3000 INR. I do not know the equivalent amount charged for people abroad, but you can enquire about this also. Regards, Krishna
