Guest guest
Dear Fellow MAdhvas: Here is Installment 2. Dear XXXX: I. XXX talks about modern scientific discoveries all being related to Christianity and he cites Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein as being examples. Firstly, this is the first time I have heard that Albert Einstein was a Christian! I think most of the world (except for XXX) thinks he is Jewish. Secondly, there are hundreds of famous scientists, past and present, who were/are not Christian. The people who built the Pyramids of Egypt and Mexico (Mayan) were not remotely acquianted with Christianity, but were excellent engineers. All the major ancient scientists of Greece: Archimedes, Pythagoras, Euclid etc. were NOT Christians. One the great fathers of Medicine on whose discoveries modern medicine improved upon, Avicenna (Ibn SInA) was a Persian Moslem! Look at Encyc. Brittanica for more info. on these people. The most important number so vital to math and computers, i.e. the zero, was of INDIAN origin! In fact, Ancient Indians have made the 7 following contibutions to World Mathematics: 1. the numeral zero. 2. the place value system of notation 3. the method of performing complex arithmetical operations--square root, cube root etc. 4. the method of writing fractions 5. the method of calculating the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) 6. Rules of Three, Five and Inverse Proportion 7. method of calculating Compound interest, installments, profit and loss etc. Look for the names of Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, Brahmagupta and Varahamihira in Encycl. Brittanica for more info. Also read: 1. Positive Sciences of the Ancient Hindus by B.N.Seal 2. Hindu Achievements in the Exact Sciences by B.K.Sircar 3. The Infinite in the Finite by Alistair M.
