Dear Dr Hebbar,

I have copied below a review of a book called " AVATA " which I found while I

was browsing the books at Amazon.com. Although it is a drama, I think there

is some truth in it.

Yours sincerely,

Rajaram R Cavale

Book Description

AVATAR is a passion drama which explores the " unknown years " in the life of

Jesus and delves into the fundamentals of Christian thought. It could have

happened that Jesus, after intense study of his Jewish roots, traveled

extensively and came into contact with the ancient religions of Hinduism

and Buddhism. His teachings and philosophical postulates may be a synthesis

of these religions, combining a belief in reincarnation and the perpetual

state of Nirvana through meditation and prayer.

About the Author

Roberto Ramos-Perea was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1959. He is a

playwright, actor, director, journalist, researcher and theatre critic. He

is one of the most active spokesmen for his generation of playwrights.

Currently, he is the Executive Director of the Ateneo Puertorriqueno. He

has premiered more than 30 plays in Puerto Rico, the U.S.A., Spain, Cuba,

Venezuela, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, the Dominican Republic and France.

Several of his plays have been translated to English.

In December of 1992 it was announced that Ramos-Perea was named winner of

the highly esteemed Premio Tirso de Molina by the Instituto de Cooperacion

Iberoamericana de Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores in Madrid, Spain for his

play Mienteme mas (Lie to Me Some More). The play was published by the

Instituto and was premiered in Cadiz. Ramos-Perea's Morir de Noche (To Die

By Night) was also was among the final group of six plays which were

considered for the award.

BRAHMAN--He is powerful, absolute, supreme. All of the gods including your

God in Israel, are in Brahma.

YESHUA-- If your Brahma is so powerful, why does he share his territories

with other lesser gods?

BRAHMAN-- All the gods come from Brahma. They are Avatars of him.

YESHUA--What is an Avatar?

BRAHMAN-- An Avatar is born when Brahma decides to come down to earth in

human from, or in the form he desires, each form is a God. But Brahma is

the origin. Brahma is the one without a second. Brahma is not either one or

the other. Brahma is.

YESHUA--How... do you know an Avatar?

BRAHMAN-- Because he brings in his hands and eyes the look of Brahma.

YESHUA-- (anxious): What have you seen in my hands? What, in my eyes? I

know that you have seen something, tell me.

BRAHMAN--You are real and you are here.

YESHUA--Am I an Avatar?

BRAHMAN--That remains to be seen.

YESHUA-- (he looks at the prostitute)--Can Brahma explain to me why man suffers?

BRAHMAN--The Vedanta says; if a cloud empties its divine water over many

fields at the same time, which one will be the one to bear better fruit?

YESHUA--That which is better cultivated.

BRAHMAN-- Then the cloud is not to blame. The compassion of Brahma is

eternal and unchangeable, Issa. And tell me, what do you believe man is?

YESHUA--Man is a strange mixture of truth and falsehood. Man is air made

into flesh; because of that, truth and hypocrisy are united in him, and

they struggle between themselves until nothingness disappears and man

becomes truth.

BRAHMAN-- Have you lived that struggle?

YESHUA--I am the Son of Man.

BRAHMAN-- Do you seek to free your soul?

YESHUA--I seek to uphold a purpose.

BRAHMAN-- Then you shall maintain yourself from the gods. Brahma, Shiva,

Vishnu, Krishna, Ganesha...
