Guest guest
Dear Haribhaktas, What is " Harivasara " ? What is the significance of Harivasara? When exacly does it begin and end. I have heard that it differs from Mutt to Mutt. Why is it so. I request learned members to kindly explain. Namaskara. Janardhan
Guest guest
Sri Janardhana, Since no one replied for the question I writting what I know about Harivasara. Some learned members can write in detail about it. " Harivasara " is referred to the last part of Dashami (if there is Vidhdha Dasami) or first part of Dwadashi. Even this period is to be considered as part of Ekadashi and we should not take food. This is also a very auspicious time and anything consumed during this period will be considered as sin as during Ekadasi. So if there is Harivasara on Dashami food should be taken before that time and if Harivasara is on Dwadashi food should be taken after that time. I don't know the exact reasons for the difference of opinion about the calculation of Dasami and Dwadashi by the mutts. These things are based on calculations related to panchanga. There may be some different proceedures which they follow during calculation.
