It is also on CNN today: http://www.cnn.com/US/9910/21/prayers.for.hindus.ap/index.html The sad part is that the response from the hindus has been completly hopeless. Looks like the self-appointed attorneys of hinduism don't have any conviction or perhaps they don't want to loose their social status by offending their Christian friends. But these shameless and ignorant Christian missionaries spare no tricks in doing their dirty job. The organisation behind this is IMB http://www.imb.org/frontpage.htm We should send emails (http://www.imb.org/staff_email.htm) and call (IMB Resource Center: 800-866-3621) to protest against such nonsense. Guest guest
Dear Manish, Thanks for the URL and email addresses. I am just appalled at the igonorance of these organizations about Hindus in general. I did send them an email and my email constructed impromptu looked like this... Dear Sir/Madam, I strongly disagree with your assessment on Divali and Hindus in general. Its just appalling that in a secular country like ours you are still making ignorant and fanatical remarks. Hindu's have always been very universal and tolerant towards all other religions. Just look at India's new cabinet of ministers. Please start at this point of tolerance and you will start learning to appreciate Hindus. No Religion is great and there are many paths to inner peace, I think these ideas are very foreign to your organization and this is what you should start looking at, rather than criticizing a religion or to many a way of life. May peace be with you. Sincerely I think we should construct a proper response from VMS. regards /Phanindra Manish Tandon [matandon] Friday, October 22, 1999 6:34 PM Re: Associated Press Article Manish Tandon <matandon Nataraj BV <ntj2 > Associated Press Article > > Please go to this site (I hope it is still there). Do you think these ignorant evangelists will listen to your diplomatic cooing? Tell them to visit the PBS.ORG website and go to the FRONTLINE section (Lost Children of Rockdale County). Better yet, ask them to buy a tape of the program and watch it. Tell them that they have a big lump of rotting, stinking crap loaded with worms on their plates and it only makes sense that they clean their plates first before pointing to an insignificant strand of hair on your or somebody else's plate. -Nataraj > Please start at this point of tolerance and you will > start learning to > appreciate Hindus.
