Guest guest
Dear Fellow MAdhvas: Most of you must have already read it, but for those who may have missed it, I call your attention to p. A19 of the Washington Post with the article entitled: " SOUTHERN BAPTISTS, EXPANDING EFFORT, TARGET HINDUS FOR CONVERSION " Kindly read it if you already have not. Anyway, it gives lie to the general laid-back Hindu attitude that " if we do not bother anyone, nobody will bother us " . It is high time we Hindus stood together as ONE. In this connexion, and CLOSER TO HOME, I would like to bring to your attention about how some other Christians (not the above ones) are discredting AcArya Madhva. The new theory is that Madhva is actually a follower of MaNi (216-274 AD) a Zoroastrian prince turned visionary. MaNi claimed that he was the last in a series of 4 major prophets, the other 3 being Zoroaster (660-583 BC), Buddha (563-483 BC) and Jesus (0-33 AD). MaNi believed in the " election " of certain souls for salvation. Augustine (354-430 AD), one of the greatest theologians of Christianity was a Manichean prior to his conversion. Worship services of Manicheans involved lamps cymbals and gongs! Driven out of Iran by Zoroastrians themselves, Manicheans sought shelter in the MalabAr region of India. Here is the clincher: Madhva is a follower of MaNi not only because of doctrine of " election " and similarity of worship but: 1. MaNimanjarI 2. MaNipAl ( " protector of MaNi " ) = a town next to uDupI (the spiritual HQ of Madhvaism) Truly unbelievable isn't it! To what extent some people will go to!
