Sri 1008 Admar maTha swamiji's visit to the Washington DC area.

krishNa devotees in the Washington area had the special privilege to be

blessed two pIThadhipathis of the uDupi maThas within the span of one

month. Soon after the completion of the sri sri suguNendra Theertha

swamiji's visit, we had the visit of sri sri viBhudesha theertha swamiji

of sri admar maTha. Sri admar swamiji was on a brief visit to the US to

attend a conference on " Eradication of Poverty " arranged by the World

bank. The first couple of days, he was busy attending the conference. He

was free on last Friday and part of Saturday. krishNa devotees attended

the poojas in Shri Gopal Potti's place ( who hosted swamiji during his

stay here). On Friday evening, swamiji performed a public pooja at the

Sri Shiva VishNu temple in Lanham,MD. The pooja was followed by a short

and sweet discourse by swamiji. Swamiji gave upadesha on how to worship

the dieties and how make one's life to be spiritual. Detailed postings

on swamiji's lectures and Q & A sessions with devotees will be posted

later. Swamiji performed the Saturday morning pooja at Shri Potti's

residence. Upon devotee's requests, he gave brief discourse on Geetha to

adults and special upadesha to children. He left for Newyork on Saturday

afternoon.

 

Swamiji's emphasis and concern for service, alleviating human

sufferings came through in his discourses, Q & A sessions and talks.

Swamiji's accomplishments in these areas are many.

 

1. He is running many educational institutions and educating about

16,000 children at various levels of education. All his schools have a

reputation for giving a high standard of education for students. Many

teachers do their job with the same dedication and service mindedness

that swamiji has.

2. He has built special schools for Harijans and less fortunate members

of the society. He has also built free houses in some areas for these

members.

3. He has free clinics in several areas to give good health care to

villagers where they may not have access to good health care facilities.

 

4. He has plans to build a top-notch research institute for advanced

scientific studies in Bangalore.

 

Swamiji has set up a tax exempt non-profit foundation in the US to

collect funds for these causes. Couple of days ago there were

suggestions that VMS should do some work for charitable causes. While we

are thinking about that, members have an opportunity to contribute to

very worthwhile charitable causes in India. Please contact Shri Gopal
