Thanks Giving Day and Daasa Saahithya

Dear Haribhaktas,

 

Our usual customs is to mention " Thanks " whenever we receive any help in

any form and in any magnitude. We say Thanks to the person who helped us

thereby we show our gratitude.

What gratitude we can show to Lord who created this world for our sadhana

and always do karma on our behalf(thannami) and residing in us as

sakha,Father, mother. We have accepted everything Lord has given to us, but

v are often and often forgetting his amithopakara.

Bestway of saying Thanks is to have Anusandhana " nahamkartha " . and Sri

Vyasavittala Dasaru in his song expresses his thanks to Lord as

" nandhenado swami nindhe idhellavo nanda nandana " .

Now let us analyse " Thanks Giving " .We have accepted every thing from Lord

and said Thanks. Now v have to give back some thing to Lord as agesture of

our Gratitude. Now purandaradaasa says

Kereya neeranu kerege challi varava Padedhavaranthe kaniro " .

 

Thanks giving has to be celeberated with family and freinds.

Now let us look at what family is according to Sri Purandara Daasaru,

" Samsaravembatha Sowbagyavirali " , Our family is family consisting all sura

Ganas right from Brahma and Vayu.

Let us invite freinds .Who r our freinds?

Jagannatha Dasaru says " Ranga Ninna kondado Mangalangara Sang sukaviththu

kayo karuna sagara " .

Prasanna Venkata daasaru says " Sangavagali Saadhu sangavagali " .

 

Now v have family and freinds.Sri Sripaadarajaru invites Lord

" Baro manege Govinda " .If Lord delays Sri Gopala daasaru reminds him " Hyange

Maadalyya Krishna Hoguthide Ayshya " if he still delays Prasanna Venkata

daasaru cries " Kartha Krishnayya ni Barayya " .

 

Menu items for this festival is " Ramanama Payasakke Krishnanama Sakkare " .

Now Sripadarajaru invites Lord to have " Vayuvihara " after food

" Popu Hogona Baro Ranga " .

 

Finally Lord gives us gift to mark the occasion of Thanks Giving as

Purandara Daasaru says

" Purandara vitalana neneyodu narachiththa

Mukuthiya needodhu hari chithtthavayya " .

 

We have to celeberate " Thanks Giving " every galige as Sri vaadirajaru says

" Smara Krishnam Baja Harim " . and " Mareyabeda manave ninu hariya charanava "

" I am not the doer, shri Hari is the doer, all the actions that I do are His

worship. Even then, the worship I do is through His grace and not otherwise.

That devotion and the fruits of the actions that come to me are due to His

recurring grace "

If one always practices to do actions with a dedicated spirit to Hari, in

this way, it pleases Vishnu.
