Guest guest
Dear Hari Bhakthas, I am looking for some info about Puranas asfollows. 1) In this Brahma day, now we are in " Vaivasvatha " manvanthara, 28th kaliyuga and first 'pada'. I understand that it is nearly 5000 years since Kaliyuga started. We hear about " Shri Vedavyasa " , as son of Parasara and sathyavathi in Mahabharatha. Is it the same " Shri Vedavyasa " who did division of Vedas? Is it the same " Shri Vedavyasa " who wrote 18 puranasa and Mahabharatha? If so, then it may be around 6000 years old or so and not more than that. Is it true? 2) We know that there are already 27 mahayugas are over in this Manvanthara? So in which dwaparayuga 'Mahabharatha' incidents took place? The dwapara yuga of this mahayuga (5000 years back) or dwapara yuga of previous mahayuga? 3) Is it possible to deduce at what point of time Mahabharatha was written, with respect to Mahabharatha war? Before or after? 50 or 100 or 500 years before or after? 4) We hear the story that " Shri Vedavyasa " requested Lord Ganesh to write down Mahabharatha. Do we have any mentioning of this in any of our " authentic " scriptures.? Is it acceptable to all? 5) Is it possible to deduce the order in which " Shri vedavyasa " wrote all 18 puranas and Mahabharatha and the time difference between them? 6) Is there any pralaya during change over of yuga say Thretha to Dwapara, Dwapara to Kali etc? I humbly request scholars to clarify me. These questions may look very silly, as I am totally confused when I try to see the incidents on timescale. Kindly enlighten me. Shri Hari Priyatham.
