Guest guest
krishNa bhaktas, I have been meaning to come up with guidelines for posting to the VMS list for quite some time. Latest series of discussions prompted me to complete the task. Please review the list and give me feedback if you have any. Most of the guidelines are common sense items to keep up the atmosphere of decorum, spirituality and education on the list. Almost all the discussions do educate us in the end, even though some discussions zig zag for a while. It is also the nature of this medium (e-communication) that makes it possible to have rapid responses rather than in-depth thinking and analysis. We have to excercise the restraint. I also suggest to members to make at least one spiritual posting per year in addition to other discussions. This helps to keep the atmosphere of the list focussed on the objectives. As I said before, I prefer the people to excercise caution when posting and keep the above mentioned atmosphere on their own. I pray to sri KrishNa to give us the strength to keep the list focussed on the objectives of this forum. Hare krishNa, Regards, Vasu Murthy ==============0====================0==============0============ Guidelines for posting in the VMS list: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 0. Always remember that people come to the list for religious, spiritual and philosophical education and satsang. Make sure that your post contributes to these in a positive way. 1. Discuss issues and not people. Do not generalize and attach labels to any group of people. 2. Be courteous in your postings. Do not say anything negative about other members. Keep your postings at a philosophical level. 3. Do not say what others should or should not do. Worship is a deeply personal matter. Say what is the mAdhva sampradAya and leave it at that. 4. Feel free to discuss any philosophical issues and differences with other traditions. Leave other spiritual leaders out of the discussions. 5. Do not post when you are angry or upset with another post. Wait about half a day to cool down and then reply. Remember that what you post will be there in list archives for ever. You will usually regret what you have sent in a hurry. 6. Do not send personal messages intended for one or two persons to the whole list. Check the recipient list once before hitting the " Send " button. 7. Review with the list administrators at -owner before sending a fund raising post. -- ================================= Vasu Murthy vmurthy ==================================
