Guest guest
Dear Vasu, More I think about this organization so far, the VMS is more interested in philosophical discussions than helping needy charitable projects in India. If you recollect, I had sent to the Board of Directors a proposal to consider whereby VMS is less philosophical and more charitable. If this is not possible, with due repect to Sri Puthige Swamiji, I kindly request you to remove my name from the VMS list and thank you for your service. As usual, I will be available for any help you may need in the future and may " GOD " bless you and your family. Gopal Krishna Potti

These kind of inputs and comments really help to clarify the goals and objectives of the organization. These are not mutually exclusive choices. VMS is interested in supporting interests of the member community that are aligned with the VMS objectives. There are plenty of charitable works that we can do. There are plenty of mAdhva and non-madhva institutions, places of pilgrimage and people that need to be helped. The question is to get resources, money and volunteers that can implement the projects. VMS operates on a very small number of dedicated volunteers. They work hard to keep up with the current set of activities. There is not enough " bandwidth " to go around. We do not want to take many different projects and fail to see them through. So, the plan is to do a small number of projects that we can finish that is consistent with the number of volunteers that we have. So, if anybody wants to do a charity project or any other project that is consistent with our objectives, I suggest that to them to please come up with a plan and resources to do it and we can get it started. We need more definitely need more volunteers as does any religious organization. It is not good enough to say that these projects need to be done. It is upto each one of us make it happen. So, let us think about how to make the things that we want to do happen, offer concrete suggestions to make it happen and let us help in implementing solutions. Some of the volunteers have some specific and concrete suggestions on some simple charity projects that we can do. Sri JV Acharya had a good suggestion that we can give help to do upanayanam for needy madhva families, or give dhotis to poor children studying in pAThashAlas. These are simple charity projects that do not cost a lot of money. We have to get started and implement them. Again the question is resources and who will implement them. If people have other suggestions or ideas on this, let us know. Philosophical discussions are very important to many members. All of us want to increase our understanding of the mAdhva philosophy and religion. All of us are learners in some sense. It is through these discussions that we learn. When we are discussing through E-mails which are in the form of rapid response, there is bound to be some confusion. That is part of the e-communication. It comes with the rapid and instant communication that we all appreciate. In the end, I do seem to feel that knowledge of the various issues increases, if you follow them closely. As long as there are no personal insults and acrimony, these sorts of debates such as the latter part of the dvaita vishisTadvaita debate did clarify many points and enhance understanding of both traditions. mAdhva philosophy and religion prides itself on the correct analysis of very deep philosophical issues and coming up with very logical explanations for metaphysical issues. I think we miss some part of our heritage and tradition if we avoid these philosophical debates and discussions. Part of the debate also involves examining other traditions and identifying holes and mistakes in them. This is the tradition of sri madhvAcharya, sri Jayatheertha ,sri vyAsatheertha and sri raghavendra swamiji. There is nothing wrong with that as long as it is done in a dignified and issues oriented manner. Very strong logical analysis and bhakti go hand in hand in our tradition. So, I urge you to be part of the solution to the problem you are suggesting and help in the implementation of the solutions. I pray for blessings of sri Hari and vAyu to you, your family and all of our members.
