Guest guest
Dear Haribhaktas, This is in regard to the below posting of Jayathirtha's Padyamala, I would like to make a few suggestions,I hope learned members would agree to the following suggestions, Though the postings given by Mr and Mrs Srinivasan have been excellent, I would like suggest a change in the guru stotra, i.e while giving theetha to gurugalu, Sri Vijayaeendra Thirtha 's sloka must be told after Sri Vadiraaja Stotra, as Sri Vadiraja is senior to Sri Vijayaeendra.Vadiraja guru had taken the peetha before Sri Vijayaeendra hence we must pay our respects to Sri Vadiraja before Sri Vijayaeendra. I hope members will agree to this.I would also like to know why this sloka, i.e: brahmAnthA gurava: sAkShAth iShtam dhaivam shriya:pathi:aachARyA: shrImadhAchARyA: santhu mE janma janmani |1| Is told after this: nithyAnithya jagath dhAthre nithyAya jJnyAnamURthayE pURNAnandhAya harahE saRva yagna bhujE namaha: |2| Here, in sloka 1, we asking lord to give us a madhva janma in our next birth, thereby paying our respects to Lord Anandatheertha, in the next sloka (2), which is picked from Sri Madhva's Works namely " Eshwarashya Bhasya " , describes lord Narayana as the supreme person with complete gnana. We must pay our respect to Lord Narayana, before lord Sri Madhva, hence a as per law of gradation, Sloka 2 must lie above sloka 1. Also, I would like to know the reason why this Sloka(2) has appeared in here, because as per procedure we are supposed to give thirtha to gurugalu at this point, but this sloka descirbes lord Narayana as " Poorna gnana " , so why are supposed to recite this sloka here. I would be grateful if any member could reply to the above query. Regards, Rajesh. > --- GV Srinivasan <srinivasan wrote: > > hari saRvOththamma, vAyu jIvOththamma> > > > chithrai padhaishcha gambhIrai vAkhyaiRmAnai> > rakhaNdithai: > > gurubhAvam vyajjayanthI bhAthi shrI jayathIRTha vAk> > > > pradhakShiNanamaskArAn sUkthapATam thathashcharEth> > || 115 ||> > > > Then one should walk round the Lord (pradhakshine > > Namaskara) & prostrate before Him with devotion. > > Vedic & other verses are to be recited praying the > > God to forgive & protect.> > > > aaruhmA vEdhikAm pashchAth pUjAsAdhguNyakArakam > > mUlamanthra harim dhyAyan japEdhaShtOththaram> > shatham> > || 116 ||> > > > Then one should again sit on the alter (vEdhikA) and > > meditating Lord Hari repeat mUlamanthra hundred & > > eight times.
