DEVOTION KNOWS NEITHER GENDER NOR CASTE

---- H.H. SRI SUGUNENDRA TEERTHA SWAMIJI

New Delhi Feb 28 : Although Lord Anjaneya assumed the form of an ape, he

is

widely worshiped by human beings. According to Darwin, human beings

evolved

from apes. We worship Lord Anjaneya not because he is wealthy nor

because he

weilds power. It is his supreme devotion towards Lord Sri Rama that has

elevated Lord Anjaneya deity. That is how Lord Anjaneya came to be

acclaimed

and proclaimed as the greatest among the “Jivas”.

All this goes to prove that devotion has no match. Lord Anjaneya conveys

to

us the messages that true devotion transcends the narrow boundaries of

caste, creed, color and gender, observed H.H Sri Sri Sugunendra Teertha

swamiji of Sri Puttige Math.

He was delivering the benedictory address after installing the 48 foot

high

monolith od Lord Anjaneya at the entrance to New Delhi on Airport road.

Just as Lord Anjaneya brought the whole Gandhamaadana mountain and

helped

thousands of apes to regain consciousness, may Lord Anjaneya revive the

people of India who have all but fainted due to the attack of enemies,

prayed Sri Sugunendra Teertha swamiji.

He opined that the word “Dehali” connoted the threshold in Sanskrit

language. As the powerful Sri Anjaneya has been installed at the

threshold

of India, he will protect us from all wicked and the evil doers said the

swamiji.

The swamiji added that Lord Anjaneya incarnated at the holy place of

Gokarna

in Karnataka and fabulous Hampi was the sphere of his activities;

Jagadguru

Sri Madhvacharya, the subsequent incarnation of sri Anjaneya too

incarnated

at Pajaka Kshetram in Karnataka.

The swamiji observed “Now that we from Karnataka installed Lord Anjaneya

here in the north and performed the “Prana Pratishtha” it is evident

that

the so called north – south divide does not exist at all. While great

and

devine personages like Lord Sri Rama, Krishna and Bhagavan Veedavyasa

incarnated in North India, Sri Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and Sri

Madhvacharya incarnated in South India. Thus while the deities belonged

to

north India the devotees were from south India. This should re-inforce

the

bond of affinity between the north and south”

The Swamiji spoke in simple and chaste Sanskrit and this was widely

appreciated and admired.

Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi., the honorable Union Minister for HRD was

chief

guest. Speaking on the occasion he observed that the culture of India

was

unique, invaluable, colorful and outstanding. It has made precious

contributions to the spectrum of world culture. He stated that the

mammoth

idol of Lord Anjaneya is the symbol of our culture. On this occasion he

remembered with gratitude Prabhudatta Brahmachaari Maharaj who was

mainly

responsible for this great event.

Several mahantas who had come from Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjaini, Puri etc.

gave

benedictions.

Many VIP’s like Sri Rajju Bhai, the chief sarasanghachalak of R.S.S, Sri

Ashok Sighal of VHP, Sri Madanalal Khurana M.P , Vijay Malhotra M.P, Sri

Govindanarayan the ex. Governer of Karnataka, the famous industrial

magent

H.S. Sinhania and Sri Jayaprakash Gowr graced the occasion.

The dedication ceremony lasted seven days. Several Homaas and other

rituals

were performed. Ramayan and Bhagavatha Kathas marked the occasion. Sri

Sri

Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji of Puttige Muth, prformed the various

connected

rituals like Nethronmeelana, Prana Pratishta, Maha Panchamruthabhisheka

and

Maha Pushpavrishti. There was a bonanza of cultural activities. Many

dignitaries like Sadhvi Ritambara and Umabharati and ex. Union minister

Sri

Arjun Sigh, Sri Vishnuhari Daalmiya were among the participants.
