Guest guest
Dear Friends, I was out of town from March 24 till today and during my absence, quite a few checks by mail and new pledges by e-mail were received. I have by now have responded by e-mail to all the pledges received so far. I will also be mailing a formal " Thank You " card to all whose checks I have received. So far, I have with me checks totalling $1532 amounting to Rs. 68, 940 at Rs. 45 per dollar, in addition to Rs. 10,000 to be paid directly in India as stated in the previous updates. This takes the overall total to nearly Rs. 79,000. The outstanding pledges for which I have not yet received the checks amount to a total of $ 227 equivalent to Rs. 10, 215. The grand total, including these pledges, will then be Rs. 89,000. We are short of the magic number of Rs. 100,000 (1 lakh) by a mere Rs. 11,000, which is $ 244. Please come forward, support this very worthy endevour and make the total exceed Rs. 100,000. Even small pledges, like what is spent on a couple of dinners or movies, will help this cause. We all should remind ourselves of the episode of Kuchela who offered only a few handful of avalakki to Lord Krishna with devotion since that was all he could afford. We all also know how wonderfully our Lord Krishna responded back to this pure devotion, not minding the insignificant material offering. We should help as much as we can to ensure the continuity of the nithya pooja to Lord Rama Narasimha in the Balagaru Matha and help foster the traditions in our Mathas which have been in unbroken existence in the past many, many centuries. Guest guest
Friends, I am very happy to see that all of you have responded quickly and effectively to Mr. Bindumadhavan's appeal for helping Sri Balagaru Matha. Efforts are being made in India also and we all hope and pray that the construction work of the first phase of the buildings of the Matha at Balagaru will be completed without any stoppage or shortcoming. For the information of those of you who have yet to make up your mind to act, I thought that the following information will be useful. This is from the original appeal made out by the committee for the purpose of rebuilging the Matha. Two main objects have been kept in view : 1. Renovation of the Matha building - we need at present around Rs. 3.5 Lakhs or so from all sources - money is being collected for this purpose. 2. Creation of a reserve fund to ensure that the following activities are regularly carried out without the Matha being forced to curtail or borrow money for its activities. i. Vidvath Sabhas and Seminars ii.Observance of Ramanavami, Narasimha jayathi, Anantha Padmanabha Vratha. iii.Aradhana of Sri Akshobhya Tirtha and Sri Raghumanya tirtha (previous pontiff) Those of you who would like to have specific pujas offered in their names or those of their elders etc. can easily avail of the offer of contributing Rs. 1000 for Shashwatha seva - for one day in each year. The amount specified for Ramanavami is Rs. 2000. A similar sum will provide for a day's Shashwatha seva to Lakshmi Narasimha, the deity of the Matha on a precribed date every year. Any special puja, Vratha like Anantha Padmanabha or any other festival could also be arranged for one day in every year (Shashwataha Seva) by contributing Rs.1000. Perhaps for many of you far away from home and lacking adequate facilities, such arrangements will give a great deal of spiritual satisfaction besides givng the much needed financial help to the Matha. All contributors may please furnish all details needed for the Samkalpa along with their checks. I hope sincerely that this appeal will receive your earnest response.
