Guest guest
Namaskara to all Haribhaktaas. The kali age or the dark age is preferred very much by the jnanis to be born on the earth since the very chanting of the hallowed names of the Lord will ensure inexplicable merits compared to the other three ages. The name of Sri Raama stands foremost in all the holy names of the Lord. Since recently in India the name of the lord was uttered frequently every day while sneezing , coughing,in distress, etc. Unofrtunately , the wonderful practice has been gradually been substituted by less impportant and useless utterances. Especially in the southern part of this country almost all people used to say ada Raamaa at all times but now the practice is gradually vanishing. Chattrapati Shivaji who dreamt a Hindu paadshah paadhsahi empire was very much influenced by Saint Samarth Raamdaas and enforced the system of saying Jayaramjeeki every day instead of insipid goodmorning,Hi,hello, etc. on meeting one another. (Sri Raaghavendra Sripadangalavaru is supposed to have met this great saint during his sojourn at Maharashtra). Rayaru knew that in the future days to come chanting the entire Ramayana or even the chapters 4 - 9 of the MBTN of Srimadaachaaaryaru (which highlight the Rama Charita) was going to be impossible and he composed the Raamacharitramanjari (11 verses) which acrues the devotee the merit of chanting the whole Ramayana but even that has now been difficult for most of the people who presuppose to be very busy in their daily hectic schedule and have to settle down for atleast chanting Sri Raamaa naamaa. Even if not possible always atleast for 3times only. Lord Rudra says to his wife Parvati devi, Sri Raama Raama Raameti Rame Raame Manorame Sahasra naamataatulyam Raama naama varaanane. The chanting of Sri Raama thrice is equal to chanting theentire Vishnu Sahasranaamaa. Shri T.S. Raghavendran ( a scion of the Tamaraparani family) had given the explanation for the same. In the word Raamaa we find only two letters ra and ma. In the devarnagari script Ra is the 2nd letter (ya,ra,la,va) Ma is the 5th letter(pa,pha,ba,bha,ma) So Raama is equal to ra x ma = 2 x 5 = 10 So chanting the name thrice tantamounts to 10 x 10 x 10 = 1000. Hence, we find that numerically also the words of Lord Rudra is perfectly true. On this Raama Navami day let alll sing, praise, chant, write, dance, meditate and hear the Holy name of the Lord. Sri Purandara daasaru gives a different version of the nectarine name of the Lord: Raaama Naama paayasaage Krishna naama sakkare Vittala Naama tuppava kalasi bayali chapparisiro......... Namaskara to all Haribhaktaas. <deleted> In the word Raamaa we find only two letters ra and ma. ......However, one look at the book - rAmashabdaratnamAla, by shrI satyaparAyaNa tIrtharu of UttarAdi mutt, convinces one that just this couple of letters can convey thousands of meanings - all pointing out to the good old Lord rAma. Starting from 'yoginAm ramante iti rAmaH', the author gives so many meanings - it is impossible for a layman like me to even remember. and then there is this 'rudravyAkhyAna' of shrI satyadharma tIrtharu. The 'namaka chamaka' or 'Sri rudram', a popular stotra among smArtAs, has been shown to refer to Lord Sri Rama. For ex- the word 'trayambakam' - which otherwise refers to Rudra devaru - is interpreted as 'one who had three mothers' (this is a loose translation. pl. pardon) - which is Sri Rama. The whole book is full of such excellent interpretations. Both the above mentioned books are published by the Sri Uttaradi mutt, Bangalore. shrI rAmachandrAya namaH Krishna
Guest guest
Hari bhaktas also may remember here the meaning explained by none other than Sri Purandara Dasa in his song 'Raama enna erada aksharada mahimeyu paamararu taa yellavu ballireyya' He explains that 'raa' means the destroyer of the sins located (not sure whether this is the exact word) in the flesh and 'maa' is like the kavacha which will not allow the ousted sins to come back to you. I hope this is the right meaning . But a nice day and occassion to remember and ponder on this song. So also, this reminds of another song by the greatest of all Daasas 'Raama Mantra ve japiso ye munuja' which confirms that mere recital of the name is sure to take us across the cycle of life and death. > > nAham kartA hariH kartA tatpUjA karmachaakhilam.h| > taThaapi matkR^itaa pUja tatprasaadhEna naanyaThaa| > tadbhakti tadphalam.h mahyam.h tatprasaadaat.h punaH punaH | > karmanyaasO harAvevam.h vishNOsthR^iptikaraH sadhA || > > " I am not the doer, shri Hari is the doer, all the actions that I do are His worship. Guest guest
Dear Shri Krishna . What you had said is right. I just wanted to stress the importance of stressing the names of the Lord . Sri Madhaacahhaaryaru had clearly said that each name of the Sahasranaamaa had one hundred meanings. I heard that the previous pontiff of Uttaradhi Matha His Holiness Sri Sathyapramodaru once had explained the hundred meanings of Sri Raaammaa(I was not blessed enough to hear the same). But all these theories have now been slightly out of the ken of the people and hence atleast the chanting of the name of Sri Rama atleast three times a day is utmost beneficial. Regards.
